"This decision will not impact M·A·C 's commitment to donate all of its projected profits from the collection to benefit the women and girls of Juarez.
Out of respect for the people of Mexico, the women and girls of Juarez and their families, as well as our M·A·C Mexican staff and colleagues, M·A·C has made the decision not to ship the M·A·C Rodarte limited edition makeup collection. This decision will have no impact on M·A·C's commitment to donate all of its projected global profits from this collection to local and international groups that work to improve the lives of the women and girls of Juarez. We are currently conducting due diligence to ensure we donate to organizations with a proven record of directly supporting the women and girls of Juarez.
M·A·C and Rodarte are deeply and sincerely sorry and we apologize to everyone we offended. We have listened very closely to the feedback of concerned global citizens. We are doing our very best to right this wrong. The essence of M·A·C is to give back and care for the community and Rodarte is committed to using creativity for positive social change. We are grateful for the opportunity to use what we have learned to raise awareness on this important issue." Click here for the entire post on Facebook.
There was soo much controversy around this collection, MAC decided to donate money from the proceeds of this collection after the uproar. After that, people calmed down a bit and all seemed to be steady on the MAC front. I personally did see much in this collection that interested me, so I wasn't boycotting per say, but I just wanted planning on getting anything in the first place. People were bothered by all this because of what the collection represented, some of the names were in poor taste, the colours etc. Anyway, now the collection is not coming out at all? Wow, talk about the power of the internet and beauty bloggers.
The message above says they are still planning on donating all the projected profits, so I guess they are still donating money to the cause despite not putting the collection out? if anything, this brought awareness of the issues in Juarez, and that's a good thing, as far as the collection not coming out, oh well I say.
What do you think of this? Should they have pulled the collection?

I don't know why they are cancelling this collection but in my opinion their former decision of donating all the profits of this collection to the people of juarez was right they could have collected a lot of money for donation from this collection so I think they should not have cancelled this collection
Wow, guess it all blew up in their face and they're feeling too pressured. I wasn't too interested in the collection after I heard about the mess going around it. I kind of feel like they can't be trusted, too corporate if you ask me.

No, I don't think they should have canceled it, because some people might of still been interested in it. In order for the charity to get money, people who of had to buy from the collection. Now that it's canceled, how can they project how much the collection would have made for the women in Juarez. The charity probably didn't have that much money or recognition to begin with before the collection. Now they have some recognition, but now who knows how much money, if any, they will get now, or would have gotten with the collection still going.
I haven't been impressed with very many of MAC collections for a long time anyway. I haven't bought any LE items from them in a long time.
@honeybell - Ya I am not sure what their projected profits were for this collection, that info would be helpful to see.
In my opinion, they shouldn't have cancelled the collection...
I think they aren't doing anything wrong...because of this collection a lot of people who had neer heard about Juarez, now know about the situation there.
And the products and everything was done already, yup? So the only thing they're doing now is loosing money, so they'll donate less money than they'd donate if the collection was released.
