They are in between a chapstick and a lipstick, the perfect balance between colour and moisture. I love them because my lips get cracked and dry when I attempt to wear most lipsticks. I am one of those people who reapplies chapstick (my top choice is Blistex Lip Medex in stick form) all day long in the winter, that's how dry my lips are. These are a great substitute for lipstick for me. They come in a huge variety of colours and now can be found in Canada and the US pretty readily.

I went crazy when I first heard that we got these in Canada in late November. I spotted them at my local Shoppers Drug Mart for $15.99 CAD a piece, what a rip off! Since I am in downtown Toronto, getting to another Shoppers is like a 5 minute walk to the corner, so off I went. I went to another Shoppers and the price there was $10.99, what a difference! I ended up picking up three that day and my love affair began and my collection got larger and larger. Throughout the coming weeks, I picked up a couple during a Shoppers Drug Mart Bonus Redemption (free lipsticks!), some from Well.ca and some more during the Rexall BOGO lipstick sale, I have 14 out of the 20 now. I will be bringing you this review in two parts (because I have that many to go through).

The Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters are packaged much like the Revlon Colorburst, they have the quilted design on the front, very cute for drugstore. I heard the Colorburst lipstick line is being discontinued, which would be a shame because I love their lipsticks as well.

The top of the packaging is handy because you can see the colour through the top lid, making it easier to choose which ones to pick when shopping. I know the Shoppers around here have testers of 3/20 colours, so you have no idea what you are getting inside otherwise. As you can tell the Colorburst lipsticks had a opaque top, so you couldn't see through it.

My only real issue with the packaging is the lip "butter" itself is so soft and it smooshes very easily when you use it, all my mine look like this on the inside. It gets on the inside rim and on the outside as well. I would definitely not suggest keeping these anywhere warm, they will just melt into nothing.

Another beef I have is the terminology of this product, which many other bloggers have brought up, when I think of "butter" I think nourishing, moisturizing, with some sort of agent to protect my lips, usually in the form of a pot. These lip butters aren't really "butters" at all, although it is a cute name. I always wear a lipbalm underneath these as well if I can remember because although they are moist, they aren't moisturizing enough for me on their own.

Here are my bare lips with nothing on them. They are moderately pigmented.

We will start this review out with my favourite lip butter of the bunch, Lollipop. This is a bright pink fuchsia colour, very pigmented.

Pink Truffle, you'd think it would be pink, but this one comes off quite brown/pink on me. Not my favourite out of the bunch of sure. More of a subtle, everyday colour.

Strawberry Shortcake is a really nice pale pink, probably my favourite pink out of the collection.

Candy Apple is a bright red orange. It's very pigmented and definitely more on the lipstick side than the chapstick. I love this colour for the winter.

Cherry Tart is much like Candy Apple but it's more on the cooler side with blue undertones. Also very pigmented.

Raspberry Pie is a pinky red, very pigmented as well. With this one, Candy Apple and Cherry Tart you definitely need a mirror to put on, or else you will get it all over your lips.

Creamsicle, although very light in the tube on me comes off as just a nude. If you are medium-dark skinned this will just wash you out and make you look dead. This definitely has an orange tint to it.

And I do. Please note every box can differ, so the items that I got in mine, may not be the same that you get in yours, however some of the items do appear in many Luxeboxes that I have seen from reviews this month, like the Tea sample, came in all of them as far as I can tell. I got this box a few weeks ago, it's been a busy month for me, my boyfriend and I have been trying to find a new apartment and Christmas shopping has got in the way too. What can you? Here is my review for November's Luxebox, as well there is a giveaway at the end! If you're interested in subscribing to Luxebox, memberships are $12 a month or $10 for a yearly membership. They make a great gift for someone and are a nice gift for yourself too every month!

The items that excited me the most this month were the perfumes. Mine came with two perfume, one for me and one for my boyfriend! They are both from Paco Rabanne in Black XS. When I saw them in the box, I automatically sprayed the men's one (not knowing it was the men's one of course) because the packaging was so cute, it looks just like a cigeratte lighter. I am a big fan of the packaging on these.
• Teaopia Cactus Fig Tea Kit - This was a bonus item this month, this is a loose tea contained in a cute orange tin. They also supplied paper filters to brew the tea in. We also got a coupon card for 20% off
• Benefit B. Right Total Moisture Facial Cram - I love the packaging on this, it comes in a glass pot. I have never tried any Benefit skincare items, so it was really nice to see this in my box. Other luxeboxs included the toner instead which came in a taller glass bottle.
• Mereadesso Lip Treats - With the winter weather here, I've been loving lip products and this balm has lots of vitamins that are meant to nourish your lips. I've kept this in my purse to re-apply during the day when I am out, liking this product so far.
• Lise Watier Eye Glitter Liner - Perfect for the holidays, a white shimmery glitter liner.
• Olay Regenerist Wrinkle Revolution Complex - We are asked to try out this product and they will send out feedback surveys in the upcoming weeks. I like getting new products in these that are not necessarily on the market yet (last month's included an Olay sample too).
• Paco Rabanne Black XS for Her and Black XS (for Him) - I love these so much, packaging is a big deal to me and I love that these came on keychains and are super cute.

Overall I am happy with the products this month. I like seeing bigger brands included in our Luxeboxes like Benefit and Paco Rabanne, I hope Luxebox keeps it up.
I remember it being hyped up a lot on youtube back in the summer. A few months back The Bay in Canada had a promotion for Origins, this product was down to $35 CAD (down from $44) and you got 3 free samples with it too (of a choice of three groupings). I am always down for free samples and a discount, so I couldn't give it up. This was my first time trying anything from Origins, so it was nice to be given a few sample treats as well.
The eye cream I would definitely buy in full size in the future, although this sample will last me a long time still. I am looking forward to trying out more Origins products in the future, the Mega Mushroom stuff is apparently good.
Sheer tint-release formula magically transforms and perfects to create even, flawless looking skin. SPF 15. Oil-free. Apply before sun exposure." The product is a reasonably thick cream that comes out white with tiny grey beads (click to zoom image). Like all Origins products, VitaZing has a sort of woodsy sunscreen scent, which I personally like. I love the idea of a multi-tasking product, this serves as a moisturizer, and a substitute for foundation since it gives a evening tint to your skin, if you're in a rush or don't feel like wearing a full face of makeup, you can opt for this instead.

Then when you blend it in, the warm of your fingers dissolves the product into a skin colour. You can probably tell it's quite orange on my skin. And that's my issue with this product, it's marketed as a sort of 'one fits all', but the colour is not universal at all in my opinion. If you're around NC20, I think this will work fine and be bendable and undectable on your skin, but for me, it's too dark. When I had a tan in the summer (fake of course), this would of been perfect, but on my ghostly pale skin, it's too orange. It reminds of the Revlon Skin Matching Makeup or Almay Smart Balance (I reviewed previously), which had the same issue, the colours were too dark. However those other two, don't have anything beneficial skincare qualities to your skin, if I remember correctly (VitaZing contains Mangosteen which is a free radical scavenger).

This has a dewy finish that feel like it's ever fully dry. It feels nice on dry skin, but for those with oily skin, you will have to powder for sure. The coverage is sheer and while touted as a tinted moisturizer, I wouldn't use this as one, it's a moisturizer (that happens to have colour to it). And as a moisturizer it works nicely, I would place this under my foundation or powder (to lighten the colour).
I love the F80, F82 and F86 for foundation application, they apply the fullest coverage possible quickly and blend nicely. The great thing about these is they don't shed or smell because they are synthetic, they also don't absorb product like a natural hair brush would, although I do have a hard time washing product out because they are so densely packed (and drying them sucks too). Today's review is the F86 Synthetic Tapered Kabuki. Even though I am in the Sigma Affiliate Program, I did purchase this brush myself, I was curious about it and have been using it for about a month now.

The shape of this brush intrigues me, it's like an egg. The Sigma website describes that this brush is "ideal for using powders and higlighter under the eye and cheek area. The dense precise tip of this brush enhances cheek highlighting and contouring for a flawless application." I had hoped to use this brush for liquid foundation but, I find it's really difficult, I am used to a flat top brush like the F80, a stippling brush or a traditional foundation brush. This brush is far too pointy to use for foundation in my opinion, unless you are just applying foundation to small areas of your face like around the nose and eyes, it's nice for that. I have been using it for contouring and it's great for that since it gets right in the hallow of your cheeks. Several youtubers mention it works well for cream bronzer like the Chanel Soleil De Tan. I also bought the smaller version of this brush, the P86 (review on that later).
Although the F86 is much more densely packed. The F25 and Sonia Kashuk work better for powder application because they are fluffy. The F86 is also said to be similar to the Louise Young LY34.

I like having this brush in my collection, however even though I know people use similar brushes for liquid foundation, I don't use the F86 for that purpose, unless I am just using it incorrectly. This mascara is said to be a fibre volumizing mascara, the "lash sculpting fibre formula adheres to lashes for a volumized, sculpted lash effects. Lashes appear fuller, longer, sculpted and curled at every angle". I love the Voluminous line, so I had to try this out and see what it was all about. I think this is Lash Architect 4D in Europe (in a silver tube).
You will notice straight away that the applicator (the wand and the handle) is very long, and can be difficult to work with at first, but you get used to it quickly. The brush is tapered, thinner at the tip and wider at the base, also it's angled slightly to the side (picture did not capture that). I picked up this mascara at Rexall Pharma Plus for about $11 Canadian, I've seen it for as much as $16 at Shoppers Drug Mart, best to get it on sale.
To me, the brush looks like it's been chewed on, or like it's expired! The fibers are very noticeable, it looks like residue mascara bits or even hair, this is what is meant to build up volume on your lashes. The formula is a bit on the dry side, so if you like wet formulations (like Million Lashes) I wouldn't suggest this one. I prefer a dry formulation because I like my mascara to be ready to go after I've finished applying it. If you like to layer your mascara, I would not suggest this one. This mascara is dry to begin with and dries quickly too, so there is no time to add multiple layers, it starts looking clumpy.

The formulation and brush reminds me a bit of YSL Faux Cils (which is my favourite mascara). Both have traditional bristles, the bristles are very close together, a dry paste like formulation, and even the darkness of the "black"is similar. The YSL applies more evenly and looks prettier on, but the volume that you get from both is similar, which is saying a lot, however the YSL can be layered easily and the L'oreal cannot.
The good: It separates well, gives great volume with one coat and holds a curl. The bad: not layerable, flakes a bit onto my cheeks. I have to be careful not to get this in my eyes (which is hard because I like to concentate my mascara the roots), L'oreal macaras tend to irritate my eyes for some strange reason.

Recently, I picked up MAC Warm Soul and NARS Madly. I read that these two are very similar and some of the blog posts that I like reading the most are swatch comparisons. I am guilty of buying products that are basically the same, just because I feel like I need to have them. These blushes retail for $27.50 CAD for the MAC and $29 CAD for the NARS.
While NARS Madly looks more of a peach brown, it's pulling more pink in the images, but it's not to me. Warm soul is described as a "mid tone beige with gold pearl" on the MAC website, whereas Madly is a "seashell pink" on the Sephora website. What does a seashell pink look like? I have no idea.

As I swatch them on my fingers, you can tell however that Madly is much more true to pan, it comes across peach bronze, whereas Warm Soul turns a totally different colour, more of a pink gold. I think it's because there is so much shimmer in Warm Soul (and it's gritty might I add), it changes the colour of the blush. Madly has shimmer too, but it's fine and not too noticeable once applied.

And here swatched on my arm, Madly is a more pigmented, true to colour peach bronze. Warm Soul is pretty but I am not a fan of how the colour isn't what I expect in the pan (and how it leaves shimmers all over my face). I know lots of people love Warm Soul, but I much prefer Madly.
I was totally existed when promotional images started circulating around for this collection. This is a limited edition collection that is now available at professional salons and nail etailers. I got mine from Cosmetics Central on Amazon, my go-to nail polish online shop. This collection came out 12 new polishes, the top 6 in the image above are shimmers, and then bottom 6 are glitters.

The ones that I picked up were Warm and Fozzie, Designer Da Better, Divine Swine and Rainbow Connection. I think the must-haves in this collection are definitely Designer Da Better and Rainbow Connection! These are great for the holidays, they really bling on your nails and are not gritty like some glitters that I have purchased before. I might go back and pick up Excuse Moi the glitter in a red base.
Three coats for this one gets it perfect.
This one is sheer and needs a lot of coats to become opaque, I didn't quite have the patience in this swatch to build it up enough. I think this would be pretty overtop of a pink or purple polish. Gettin Miss Piggy with it, Gone Gonzo and Fresh Frog of Bel Air are the same idea as this one, just different colour glitters.
This is a clear base polish with multi-coloured small, medium, and larger hexagonal glitters. This one is a close dupe for Deborah Lippman's Happy Birthday. I found this one was harder to get opaque than Divine Swine because the glitters stick together on the brush and in application, and instead of painting my nail in strokes as usual, I was going through and placing the larger glitters where I had empty parts. This one would require A LOT of coats to get completely opaque. It looks amazing in the bottle though, I just wish it was easier to put on.
When I first heard Pro Lumiere was being discontinued, I was really disappointed, it is a foundation that I love, perfect for dry skin, great coverage, lovely dewy finish, full review here. Mat Lumiere I hadn't tried before, mostly because it's a matte finish and for my dry skin, I don't like a matte foundation. I had hoped that this new Perfection Lumiere would be somewhat of a hybrid of both foundations, the good of the dewy and matte factor, however as you will read in this review, that's not the case.

This foundation is not currently available in Canada, I couldn't get a definite answer from Chanel sales people regrading this, some said it's out spring 2012, some did not know, some looked at me like I had two heads when I spoke about it. I greatly dislike how we get products much later in Canada (and for more money too). I purchased this a few weeks ago off Amazon.com from the seller Avdo, it was $64.99 when I bought it (add shipping), had since gone up to $72.99. The seller is great, I didn't have to pay any customs (after speaking to the seller) and I highly recommend them. I purchased mine for free through gift cards from Swagbucks, I get a lot of my cosmetics this way.
The box reads "lightweight, yet perfecting coverage, adjustable makeup result, oil-free, dermatologist tested." It goes on to say in the booklet how it's the perfect balance between light and correction. This foundation comes with the most extensive colour range of any Chanel foundation ever, it has 20 shades, separated into three groups: beige rose (pink tones), beige (yellow tones) and beige ombre (olive tones). Check out karlasugar's swatches of all the shades here. I was pleased to see 10 Beige appeared to be light enough for my skin and decided to get that colour without swatching it. I'm always the lightest or second lightest shade in foundation, so there was no question that B10 would be my colour.
The amount of product inside is the same, 30ml.
I have never noticed my foundation oxidizing this much before (and I use a lot of foundation).

And here I compared the final oxidation stage Chanel Perfection Lumiere in center after 30 minutes or so, right of that Perfection Lumiere after about 20 minutes and on the left Chanel Pro Lumiere after 20 minutes. My camera does not capture colour very well, so you will have to take my word for it but, Perfection Lumiere in B10 once oxidized is darker than Chanel Pro Lumiere in 10!

As far as the finish and coverage. Chanel Perfection Lumiere on me is quite matte. Compared to other matte foundations that I have (MUFE Mat velvet plus for example) this one applies more smoothly, but still shows dry spots and flaky skin and isn't great for dry skin (more for combination/oily/normal skin). This is the nature of matte foundations though, not great for dry skin. I think if you have any imperfections, the foundation will stick to those areas and your look will not be "flawless". This settles around my nose and on my forehead a lot. I have to prep my skin thoroughly if I want to wear this. I don't powder this (since it's already more matte than I would like). Long wearing claims? I think this is definitely long wearing, but I have dry skin so my foundation doesn't really move. The coverage is medium-full, comparable to Pro Lumiere's coverage.

I prefer Pro Lumiere so much more to this, and that makes me sad because Pro Lumiere (and Mat Lumiere) are being discontinued. The colour while at first looks great and light enough for me (NC15), oxidizes horribly on me and turns darker than Pro Lumiere. Keep in mind, if you blend the colour in, it will look more natural and less orange, I have packed on the foundation for swatching purposes. I wonder why this goes so dark though? it must be the ingredients in it. I have read from others that Perfection Lumiere settles into fine lines and feels more drying than Mat Lumiere, so that is definitely something to consider.

If you aren't pale as a ghost and dry as the Sahara like I am, this foundation might work for you. The finish would be nice on someone with oily/combation/normal skin I think. I do think Chanel has left out all the Pro Lumiere fans with this release. Have you tried this? What did you think?Justine (Productrater)http://www.blogger.com/profile/10480877339767724575noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4212882724562774095.post-71048889511989665702011-11-04T13:00:00.002-04:002011-11-04T13:04:16.060-04:00MAC Glitter and Ice Haul Morning Frost Paint Pot

MAC Glitter and Ice Holiday Collection came out recently. I really liked the theme of this one, it has an icy Snow Bunny type of feel to it. This collection had a bunch of new items, including paint pots, beauty powders, lipsticks, new brush kits, etc. I only items that I was interested in were the paint pots. I love paint paints and had my eye on "Morning Frost" from the promotional pictures. I didn't buy this online, like I normally do with MAC collections because I wanted to swatch it in person because I was worried it might be glittery and fallouty like the Cham Pale paint pots. But I was pleasantly surprised.
This paint pot will stand out amongst all my black lids. (Colour on nail is Sally Hansan's Instant Dri in Bronze Albaze nice colour and goes well with this product).
This is the "it" colour that everyone likes, on their nails, on their eyes, it's a great winterized shade. Paint pots in this collection are limited edition ($22 CAD each), the other two Let's Skate and For Effect were pretty too, but they looked too glittery and I thought I would get more wear out of this one.
I would definitely suggest you pick up Morning Frost if you like colours like this. Paint pots make for a great base under eyeshadow or even on their own. I really like this one.
I picked this up recently at Shoppers Drug Mart for $13.99 CAD (ouch I know! It was on sale for $8 at one point and I passed on it thinking this was too gimmicky then I caved a few weeks later and really wanted it, what can you do?). This product is a treatment concealer with Gogi Berry + Haloxyl which is supposed to instantly erase dark circles and fine lines and visibly diminish puffiness. I would love to see them "erase fine lines" I don't think that is possible, maybe on a photoshopped Christy Turlington, but not in real life.
I picked up light, I would of picked up fair (since I am pale) but I haven't been able to find that colour in stock in drugstores in Canada. Light is a decent match for my skin I think. The packaging is a lot smaller than I expected it to be, it has 0.2 fl oz/6ml (to compare the Garnier Eye Roller has 15ml). To get the product out you have to turn the collar of the applicator in the direction of the arrows until the product appears. When I first used this, it took 10 or so turns before the product became visible, I thought I had broken it. I noticed straight away that this concealer isn't at all creamy, it's actually quite dry (not great for under the eyes) but still thin. It sets very quickly and does not move, that way you can layer it or build it if you want.

The applicator is what I thought I would hate in this product, but it works out it's my favourite part about it! Everyone is talking about how the sponge is not very sanitary, and I had the same concerns. The applicator is "protected with an anti-microbial system" and you are not meant to wash it, instead use a dry tissue. The sponge up close looks pretty disgusting I must admit and the product stays soaked in there. However, it's super soft on your skin, no matter how much you press it on your skin, it never hurts or feels bothersome. I take the sponge, spreading the product under my eyes on clean skin and then tap it in with my fingers.
As you can tell from the swatch above in my comparison, the Maybelline Eraser looks much drier than the other two, this is straight out of the tube, no blending or anything. I prefer a more hydrating undereye concealer.

If I manage to find this on sale again I might pick up the neutralizer and give that a go in conjunction with this. There is a foundation in this range too, but I think I will pass. The Eraser concealer is an okay product, would work pretty well for those with minor-moderate dark circles, if you have super dark circles this will not do much besides brightening. I do like this product, but my go-to concealer is still Bobbi Brown's corrector and concealer, it feels creamy, moisturizing and cancels much better.

I think Bourjois Healthy Mix is pretty close to a perfect foundation for me. I have watched numerous videos from UK bloggers claiming this foundation is great, and have wanted to try it out for a while now. Bourjois is a French brand (division of Chanel) but it is accessible to Canadians through Shoppers Drug Mart (I think this was $30ish CAD, $27 for the serum version). I however purchased mine on Asos.com, a website that I stalk on a regular basis (they have Illamasqua too), they offer Free Shipping worldwide! And I got this foundation from them for a fraction of the price that I would pay in Canada. Asos' stock does vary day to day however, and the colour selection is limited.
This foundation is like a fruit basket!
I am an NC 15 in MAC, I opt for yellow toned foundations to even out my complexion. As you can tell Bourjois Healthy Mix is the last on the right, it's pretty close to NARS Sheer Glow in Gobi (touch lighter) and Bobbi Brown Skin in Warm Ivory (more peachy). Chanel's Pro Lumiere in their lightest colour, 10 Limpide Nude is much darker.

Bourjois Healthy Mix feels really comfortable on dry skin, it's moisturizing which is a huge plus for me since a lot of foundations feel tight and look crackly on my skin. When first applied it goes on quite thin and watery, but then it settles to a semi-matte finish on the skin. The new Healthy Mix with serum foundation is said to give less coverage and dries to a more dewy finish compared to this (I will be trying that next). I would say Bourjois Healthy Mix gives a medium coverage with a satin finish. I do not set this with a powder (if you have oily/normal skin you may want to). The smell of this is amazing, it smells of roses (very similar to Chanel's Pro Lumiere). If you don't like fragranced foundations this may put you off, but I love it and it dissipate once your foundation sets. I love this foundation and can't wait to try out others from them.
This collection came with 5 new polishes: Blue Mosaic, Facets of Fuschia, Smoky Canvas, Starry Pink, and Carbonite (along with new lipstick, eyeshadow, and lipgloss).
I love how Starry Pink looks on other blogs though, and may go back for that one. Carbonite was the one that I had to have, it's said to be a dupe for Chanel's Graphite. Facets of Fuschia is said to be a dupe for Deborah Lippman's Bad Romance. I love how Revlon gives cheaper alternatives to expensive high-end nail polishes!
It's gorgeous and I will be wearing it a lot. It's a dark grey with light silver shimmer and it can look gold or charcoal depending on the lighting. This one can be achieved with one coat only, the polish is that good. This polish came separate in the US, but in Canada it's been put out with the rest of the Expressionists Gucci Westman polishes. If you're looking for a Graphite and Carbonite comparison, check out Lacquered Mom, they seem quite close and I prefer just to have the cheap one.
Canadian Sephora stores now have YSL, Bobbi Brown, St Tropez, and Nails Inc (and probably others that I have forgotten) that were never available before. This is exciting to Canadians for sure because it's now really convenient to get these brands. I was most excited about Bobbi Brown coming in because the only place that I knew of that carried it was Holt Renfrew and I feel a bit out of place in that store (too posh for me).

I noticed the YSL section was definitely not complete by any means, there were only a few foundations and none of the Teint Radiance that I purchased online recently. I love that blush in the bottom corner, Coriander really pretty! I picked up a new YSL Faux Cils as well, one of my favourite mascaras ever. I think YSL will definitely be a bit hit.

Bobbi Brown's section is pretty huge. Both pictures were taken at the Toronto Eaton Centre location (I am not sure if all Sephoras throughout Canada have these new sections). I got a sample of Skin Foundation, which I've been meaning to try out for some time now (review of that coming soon). I love Bobbi Brown, her products are so nice, although I heard her corrector/concealer has changed texture recently, became more creamy? The ones I swatched in the store seemed identical to what I've been using.

Nails Inc is another brand that came in recently, I picked up Sloane Square, a really pretty 3D glitter, it's my first Nails Inc polish ever. St. Tropez is now available too, for those that like to fake tan, it was only available online previously.

I am really pleased that Sephoras in Canada have decided to add these brands, I don't really understand why we don't have the same brands that stores in the US have. And perhaps they can start including us in promotions too (like the Friends and Family online offer that is US only currently, would of loved to take advantage of that!) I would love to see them get a Chanel or Illamasqua section. What section would you want most to see at Sephoras in Canada?Justine (Productrater)http://www.blogger.com/profile/10480877339767724575noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4212882724562774095.post-69841975327300765472011-10-21T23:01:00.007-04:002011-11-03T09:45:30.263-04:00Review October Luxebox By Loose Button And Giveaway

Earlier this week I received the October Edition of Luxebox. It came totally re-designed! As you know Luxebox normally comes in a brown cardboard shoebox type box with a ribbon around it, this month's came in a sleek black box. Also the packaging that it came delivered in was an improvement too, normally it comes in those cheap Canada Post plastic bubble type envelopes, this month it came in a sturdy cardboard box. I love the new packaging, it goes well with their website design, more of a sleek, mature approach. If you're not familiar with Luxebox, they are a monthly beauty subscription that sends you 4-5 deluxe beauty samples each month (only for Canadians at the moment).
1. Lise Watier Flash Lift Radiance Vials (product launch)
2. Keratase Elixir Ultime - Last month's Luxebox came with Moroccan Oil, I am seeing a trend with these products, Luxebox likes hair serums! I tried this on my hair and it's a lot thinner than Moroccan Oil, smells good too.
3. Olay Professional Pro X Eye Restoration Complex
4. Lise Watier Plumpissimo Le Gloss
5. China Glaze Crackle (Full Size) in Oxidized Aqua
6. Dealuxe $25 off when you spend $75

I was pleased with this month's Luxebox, especially liking the nail polish. I have yet to try any crackle polishes and like the colour of this one, nice for the fall season. I love how they add new products in before they are available for purchase, that goes for the Lise Watier Flash Lift Radiance. And the Olay Prox Eye Restoration Complex intrigues me too. I would love to see them continue to put more makeup items in their boxes.
We all know that the mascara advertisements that we see all contain women wearing false lash inserts, those results are not attainable alone. So does Benefit's They're Real give a pleasing result? And are the girl's boobs in the advertisement real too? I think the left one definitely looks fake, less shading on it or something, it looks weird. I guess it's up to you to decide.

I went back and forth about getting Benefit's They're Real because of the high price, normally I get drugstore mascaras and find some of them to be very good and comparable to that of high-end types. But I love trying out new products so I finally caved. Benefit's They're Real retails for $22 US and $29 Canadian, I got mine at Sephora, it's always sold on the Benefit website.
Our jet black, long-wearing formula won't smudge or dry out!". In a consumer panel survey, 94% saw dramatic length and volume, 90% saw base to tip curl, 94% saw visible lift, and 100% saw long-wearing results.
I like the packaging, it stands out from my other mascaras. The brush is nice, it's "specially designed to reveal lashes you never knew you had". It's a plastic spikey brush with a precision tip with additional spikes (which makes this mascara unique). To use it you are to position the wand horizontally and wiggle side to side from base to tip, then use the tip spikes vertically to curl and separate.

Here is They're Real applied to the left eye and nothing on the right. The first thing I noticed is how black the formula is, it definitely stands out. It's volumizing and lengthening. And it does not take a lot of work, I find with most drugstore mascaras I would need several coats to get this effect and with this I stop at two. As far as holding a curl.. meh I don't think it does that well.

The brush is very similar to the Cover Girl Last Blast in that it has lots of tiny spikes, but the brush itself is much smaller and easier to work with, and it has those added spikes at the end. The spikes are great for getting into the inner eyes and the lashes at the sides. However, I did find that too much product collected on the spikes at the top, and in order to do my bottom lashes, I had to clean off the wand (this could get better as the formula thickens up a bit as it gets older).

And here is the ultimate test, one eye with Benefit They're Real and one with Cover Girl Lash Blast (waterproof version). My eyes look almost identical! With the Benefit mascara, I could reach the smaller lashes close to my tearduct easier and since the brush is smaller it was easier to work with for sure, which makes me want to reach for the Benefit over the Cover Girl. I love the Lash Blast but the brush is giant and every time I use it I make a huge mess and get it transferring everywhere and have to wipe with a q-tip. The Benefit formula is a bit thicker too and less glossy compared to the Cover Girl.

The verdict: If you like Cover Girl Lash Blast but find the brush too big for your eyes and hard to work with, get Benefit's They're Real, you will enjoy it.Justine (Productrater)http://www.blogger.com/profile/10480877339767724575noreply@blogger.com16tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4212882724562774095.post-59751824341849067692011-09-24T00:21:00.008-04:002011-10-22T01:21:38.135-04:00Review Luxebox By Loose Button And Giveaway

Recently I was contacted by Loose Button to do a review and giveaway for their Luxebox. If you're not familiar with this brand, they offer a monthly beauty subscription service (similar to Birchbox in the US) for Canadians. For a monthly charge you get 4-5 deluxe beauty samples sent to you. The appeal of these subscription services is definitely the element of surprise of not knowing what you're going to get every month, receiving the cute box in the mail and opening it up. Their mission is to "help customers discover, try and purchase quality beauty products through a unique shopping experience." When you sign up for Luxebox you fill out a beauty profile and they try to tailor products to suit your interests.
I tried my best to put the ribbon back on as nicely as possible (they are hard to put back on). Inside was a card personalized for me, which was a really nice touch!
I like that feature because you can compare what you got (and the size) with what a full sized product would cost, if you wish to purchase it in the future.

I received 4 items in mine (plus a Hershey Kiss chocolate which unfortunately did not last long enough to be included in the image!). The best part for me was the Moroccan Oil treatment, I've actually been using this product since the summer and enjoy it very much. I paid $14 for the exact same size that was included in the Luxebox so that makes the box worthwhile right there! Next was a Laura Mercier Hydrating Water, it's ...interesting, I have dry skin so anything "hydrating" in the name applies to me, the sample is small, but Laura Mercier products are expensive, so I was pleased this was included. I also received a Pur Minerals Mineral Glow bronzer (other people got the Seche Vite topcoat), it looks very orange in the picture but in person it's not so much, and it works well on my fair skin. The Mereadesso Face and Neck Toning Gel was the one product that made me go "huh?", it's not something that I would typically buy and I've never heard of the brand before, I suppose they are targeting an older demographic with this since someone in their teens would not necessarily be interesting in toning that area.

Loose Button currently costs $12/month (it went up from $9.99 when they first launched), $36 quarterly or $120 for a year subscription. I should also note that when Luxebox first launched earlier this year, I was all over it, I was a "founding member". After receiving my first initial Luxebox I wasn't wow'ed with the products that I received and did not order any more. When I was approached with the opportunity to review and do a giveaway I accepted, I felt that it was an opportunity for Luxebox to redeem themselves. I gotta say I am still half and half about it, I like the concept but I feel like they could definitely improve. I would love to see more makeup items included and more familiar, popular brands.
I own like 4-5 items from them only, but everything I have bought is my favourite and I love wearing their products. It is a luxurious and expensive brand though so I have to limit myself. Recently I had some gifts cards from Apothica (they are a sponsor on this blog) and could pick out anything that I wanted to equal $65 on their website. Of course, I went straight to Chanel. For those in Canada keep in mind that Apothica does not ship Chanel products to Canada, they are Canada Restricted. I had relatives coming from Illinois so I was clever and shipped it to them instead and they gave the products to me when they arrived, it was like Christmas! I got Chanel Vitalumiere and a darker shade in Chanel Pro Lumiere.
I wanted 30 Cendre but they didn't have it in stock. I stopped by my Chanel counter at The Bay and swatched the colours and 30 would of been better on me. This is definitely a summer colour for me only, when I am fully tanned (fake tanned/spray tan of course) and even then it's a tad dark in my opinion. According to Temptalia's foundation matrix (super helpful you should check it out) 40 is suited for those NC30 and up.
The little pamphlet that came with it goes on to say "bringing a radiantly youthful smooth satin makeup finish and a light, moisturizing texture... your complexion is visibly rested, immediately on application, the photoreflective pigments have an optical smoothing effect. Fine lines and blemishes are softened and your complexion has a visibly more youth appearance, your skin is energized, the presence of an energizing ingredient, derived from brown seaweed, which is renowned for its stimulating properties helps to give the complexion an immediate "healthy glow"."

This foundation feels AMAZING if you have dry skin, it definitely feels moisturizing as the description above states and it has a dewey texture that stays moist feeling on the skin throughout the day. I would suggest this foundation for those with dry-normal skin, definitely will not work for oily skin in my opinion (far too dewy) and those that like light-medium coverage and a glow to the skin. It does not cling to dry areas or emphasize fine lines.
It's very easy to apply, blends very easily into the skin and smells AMAZING. I wore this to a wedding and people commented on my skin that it looked great (it photographs nicely too despite the SPF), I wore it out on a very hot day and I didn't like it however, it felt like it was running down my face the entire day. You can powder this and make it more mattish but I would suggest leaving it as it is to not disturb it's beautifulness. I will definitely reserve this for special occasions. I think it would be a nice foundation for the winter when my skin is very dry, but I will have to get a lighter shade for that, or perhaps mix it with light foundations to make them better on my skin (Vitalumiere is perfect for my skin type).

I picked up my bottle from the lid (which is very light compared to the bottle) and accidentally dropped it on my bathroom tile. Thank goodness it only dinged the corner and the foundation itself is intact (or else I would of seriously cried). If the lid itself was heavier it would work much better, so please please be careful, pick up this foundation from the bottom.

Would I recommend this foundation? It's up there with my holy grail foundations for sure. And if you have dry skin, you will love this for a dewy look.Justine (Productrater)http://www.blogger.com/profile/10480877339767724575noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4212882724562774095.post-85430391278171082502011-08-08T19:55:00.003-04:002011-10-22T01:22:48.265-04:00Review: Sigma Dry and Shape System

Today's review is the Sigma Dry and Shape System. This is one of their newest products, it's meant as an aid in helping to dry your makeup brushes quicker and shape it while it does. When it comes to me, I am not too fussy when I wash my brushes, I use anti-bacterial hand soap, the same stuff that I use when I wash my hands in the bathroom (one from Bath and Body Works). I don't mind how long it takes because I normally leave them dry overnight. I have so many brushes that if some are dirty, it's not a big deal, I just grab another one.

What I normally do is wash them in soap, rinse them out with tap water, then tap and soak all the excess water out with a bath towel or paper towel. Then I leave them on the side of the sink to dry. Sometimes very dense brushes like the Flat Top F80 are still a bit damp the next day, but it doesn't bother me to use it since I only use those with liquid foundation. I was curious if the Dry and Shape would make much of a difference in my routine, and I was skeptical if it would. I have read people ask how you clean the brush roll itself, since it can become unsanitary with the dirty water spilling out. The brush roll is made of synthetic material, so it's easy to wipe clean. If your brushes are really dirty you can wipe them down first on something, ensuring all the water or cleanser is out of it, then place it in the Dry and Shape. None of my brushes leak because I make sure I wipe them dry first.
It looks like a brush roll but with compartments (bands) on the top and bottom to hold your brushes in place. It comes with big and small bands, so that you can put your large face brushes and your smaller eyeshadow brushes inside. It's a no brainer that face brushes take longer to dry, they are larger and have more bristles, and I think Sigma designed this system with that in mind, as there are more place holders for larger brushes. My initial thought was, how will putting my brushes in this help them dry any quicker than just letting them sit on the sink? Well when you condense the bristles together, they dry faster apparently, similar to placing them in a brushguard.

The instructions explain how "The Dry and Shape System promises to completely dry and shape your most dense brushes within 4 to 6 hours guaranteed. The Dry’n Shape provides the necessary pressure to bristles to quickly and efficiently remove water from every fibre. The fabric used to shape the bristles was specially engineered to accelerate water evaporation, resulting in a faster drying time for your brushes."
There are 12 spots, so if you happen to have the Complete Sigma Brush Set you can fit all your brushes in this. I did find however that even the spots for the large brushes were a tad tight, I found the F20 Large Power Brush, which is the large paddle brush, difficult to get into the band. And they say you can fit a kabuki brush in there too, although that can take some effort in my opinion.

There are only 4 spots for smaller brushes and I found brushes like the smaller eyebrushes and blending brush fit quite loosely in the bands. I would think they would of made the bands to fit certain brushes more easily, that being the Sigma brushes, but they don't fit all that great in this, there are varying levels of loose and snug pieces. I think this is something they could work on. You could put more than one eyeshadow brush in each band, but I think that would defeat the purpose of shaping them.

What is cool is you can flip the system upside down, so that any leftover water can drain out of the brushes instead of into the ferrules. And you can snap the ends of the brush holder together and stand it up. A major reason why brushes come apart and the ferrule separate is because liquid gets caught in the ferrule and wears away the glue that holds the piece together.

I tested the system to see if the brushes actually did dry in 4 to 6 hours, and they did, like I said, I am not too picky with how long the process of drying brushes takes. What I did find that I liked about the Dry and Shape was how it shaped the brushes, since they are tightly condensed into the band. The bristles cannot splay out and get full, so once they're dry you are left with a nice shaped brush, like they should look and they perform better.

Would I recommend this product? The Dry and Shape is overall a good product, I was impressed with how it shaped my brushes, although I wish some of my eyeshadow brushes fit more tightly than they did.Justine (Productrater)http://www.blogger.com/profile/10480877339767724575noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4212882724562774095.post-82861214887251168452011-08-05T20:59:00.001-04:002011-10-22T01:24:16.021-04:00Review: L'oreal Sublime Bronze Self Tanning Lotion

This is a review on the L'oreal Bronze Self-Tanning Lotion. I had previously done a review on the Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Mist, which is the mist version of this product. I think they are essentially the same, depending on whether you prefer a lotion or a mist is the only difference. If you remember my former review, I loved the colour that the Sublime Bronze Mist gave my skin, but hated the application. The spray leaks all over when sprayed, does not dry fast at all and I go through a ton of it quickly. So I opted to try out the lotion version to see if it would work better for me.

I have both products in the shade "Medium" this is the only shade that I have found in drugstores here. I found the lotion to be quite difficult to find at first, but once I did I noticed shelves were stocking it pretty well after that. It retails for $17 CAD, which I find pretty expensive for what you get. The bottle is 150ml, so very small, the pictures here make it look bigger than it is. It's the size of my hand I would say (and I have quite small hands). But since it's a lotion, I definitely do not go through it as quickly as I do the mist.
I would prefer to see the actual colour that the product will turn to once it's on my skin. The lotion is quite thick, not runny at all, which is nice. This version, versus the mist, is much better if you have dry skin as it will absorb better.

The bottle reads that this gives "steak-free continuous hydration". "An even, natural looking tan without steaks, skin is extremely soft and smooth, leaves skin hydrated for 8 hours. Apply to clean skin, smooth on evenly, avoid eyebrows and hairline. Use sparingly around ankles, knees and elbows. Wash hands thoroughly after use. Let skin dry before putting on clothes (approx 5 minutes). Use daily until you have achieved the desired level of tan, and then apply 1-2 times a week".
It was embarrassing and I tried not to attract attention to it as much as possible. Since the colour develops on your skin, if you do get it on your hands or other areas that you don't want it (clothes etc) you won't see the mess that you've made until it's too late. Since a lotion needs to be rubbed in more than a mist does, I needed to be smarter this time around. So I was on a mission to find latex gloves to use instead with the lotion, all I could find were boxes of like 50 gloves, and that was more than I needed. I came up with an idea! You know the gloves that you get with boxed hair dye? Those were perfectly fine, since I use two boxed of hair dye usually, I have left over gloves. I use one glove only to apply the lotion or mist and voila free gloves! If yo notice my thumb did turn orange though, not careful enough!

Here is the lotion compared to the mist (each have 150ml, both are around the same cost). I feel like with the mist you get a more concentrated colour, but you end up using a lot of it without noticing and go through the bottle quickly. I prefer the lotion on my skin type but what I like best is using them together. I will put on the lotion, which hydrates my skin, then put the spray overtop and I feel like it locks in better with the lotion as a base. The color is nice, not too orange and you do have to build it up if you want a noticeable tan. What I don't like is how it starts fading in patches on my skin and you have to be very careful around joints like your elbows, ankles, neck etc.

Would I recommend this product? It's an okay product, I prefer the lotion over the mist since I get more use out of it. These products do take work though (keep in mind I am very fair normally) and are definitely not perfect. It's a good option for a drugstore self-tanning product.Justine (Productrater)http://www.blogger.com/profile/10480877339767724575noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4212882724562774095.post-50393326270069466022011-08-02T18:17:00.002-04:002011-10-22T01:25:07.699-04:00What's In My Travel Makeup Bag?

I haven't blogged anything in what seems like forever. I went away on a vacation sort of, not the type that most people go on I guess, we went camping. It's something that we've done as a family for years, always the same park. It's a nice way to relax and wind down a bit.

Not everyone takes makeup with them when they go camping. Keep in mind this a provincial park that we go to, there is running water, electricity, real bathrooms etc, so you can take a shower and keep clean. When I tell some of my friends that I go camping they think I am out fighting wild animals in the bush, it's nothing like that, just some giant bugs here and there.

Anyway, I take as minimal of a approach as possible when I go camping with what makeup I bring along. It's interesting to see what I took with me, these items are *good enough* to warrant bringing along on a trip.

1. Make Up For Ever Face and Body - A light foundation, pretty easy to put on, you can use your hands mostly. Leaves a dewy natural finish, light coverage.

2. Maybelline Fit Me - I've had a total turnaround with this foundation, I just thought it was average when I first got it, but over the summer it's been my go-to. Great colour match for my tanned skin, and like the light coverage for the summer.

3. MAC Careblend Pressed Medium Dark - My setting powder for the liquid foundations, does not sink into fine lines, looks great on dry skin.

4. MAC Fun and Games blush - I couldn't pass up a good peachy orange blush, although I think I wore this once and that's it. Don't need blush really.

5. Posh powder brush - Used this to apply blush

6. Sigma F45 Buffer Brush - Used this to apply the powder.

7. MAC Paint Pot in Rubenesque - This was my eyeshadow for the trip, that's it, applies with fingers easy peasy.

8. Revlon Eye Lashes Curler - My go-to at home too, no fancy eyelash curlers here.

9. Garnier Eye Roller Anti Dark Circle - This was a tad too dark for me (in light), but now in the summer it works nicely, good for under eyes, doesn't conceal a whole lot though.

10. Sigma F80 Flat Top - My go-to forever for foundation application, the only brush you need when you go traveling.

11. Rimmel Sexy Curves Mascara - Love the definition and lift that this gives, although a bit of a pain to take off.

12. Lancome Definicils Mascara - This one is a sample from a gift with purchase deal, it gives natural looking lashes, easy to apply, nice one.

Powders are typically meant to mattify the skin, aid in oil control and used for touchup, but the Careblend Powders have ingredients that are actually meant to hydrate the skin. A powder that hydrates the skin? that is crazy to me, I had to try this out. It's described on the MAC website as being a "cream-like powder that offers a virtually invisible, fresh-looking finish." They feel really smooth and comfortable on the skin, which I love. I normally don't use pressed powders because my skin is quite dry, but in the summer and in the heat it's nice to touch up with one. I've been using this powder to set my liquid foundation.
I love the texture of this product, compared to the Studio Fix Powder and Mineralized Skin Finish this stuff is so smooth. I like the packaging too, unlike the Mineralized Skin Finish, the Careblend powder has a puff and a mirror inside, which I like, you can take it on the go. I can feel this stuff on my face when I touch it, but not in a bad way, it feels like silk on my face.

I have read that the Careblend Powder is sort of like a hybrid between the Studio Fix Powder and the Mineralized Skinfinish Natural, so I decided to test it out for myself. I have here the Studio Fix Powder in NW20, Mineralized Skin Finish Natural in Light and the Studio Careblend of course. The shades are totally different as you can probably tell. I hardly ever use the Studio Fix Powder, I don't really like it at all, but included it here for review purposes, it way too full coverage and grainy for my liking. Mineralized Skin Finish has given me bumps on my face on and off, so I was often too apprehensive to use it. I feel like the Careblend gives you similar coverage as the Skinfinish (sheer to medium) but it feels nicer on the skin.

As far as size and price go, you get 15g (the most) in the Studio Fix Powder, however this product is meant to be used as a foundation, it can be too cakey to use as a setting, and frankly I think it definitely is! this retails for $32 CAD. The Mineralized Skinfinish Natural is a nice product, pretty well known in the beauty community, it can be used alone but is quite sheer, nice to put over foundation and gives a glowly finish, you get 10g and it's $32.59 CAD. The Careblend is 10g and $27.50, I would say it gives a more matte finish (vs the Skinfinish).

I have swatched all three here, you can hopefully tell that Studio Fix Powder is very opaque for a powder and heavy, the Mineralized Skin Finish is much sheerer and the Studio Careblend is pretty sheer as well, but appears the smoothest of the three. I like how the Careblend Powder sorta dissolves into my skin and looks natural, or I can also build it up using a kabuki brush and get decent coverage. The most important thing is, it looks almost undectable on my dry skin, and it does not irritate it, which is a huge thing for me.

Would I recommend this product? For those with dry skin, I definitely would or for someone who is looking for a new setting powder.Justine (Productrater)http://www.blogger.com/profile/10480877339767724575noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4212882724562774095.post-22666255093395007262011-07-14T20:10:00.002-04:002011-10-22T01:26:22.620-04:00Review: Sigma Flare Eyeshadow Palette

This is the third installment of my Sigma Eyeshadow Palettes review, today it's Flare. I love the colours in the Flare palette, if you have green eyes, it would be great for you. It has some shimmery and some mattes colours. Just like the other two palettes, I find the shimmer shadows tend to be better quality than the matte ones, I find some of the lighter colours tend to be chalky, in this palettes it's the far right colour that I have issues with.

The first two colours in this palette make the palette for me, that brown green "crush" resembles MAC's Club with that duo chrome thing going on. And that teal "Oversee" colour is beautiful, I don't have anything quite like that in my collection yet.

The purples in this palette are very nice and the shadows go nicely together I think. The first four shadows could make a nice look, and the four right shadows too, although you are free to mix them up any way that you like of course.

Here are the swatches, please click on the image to enlarge it. The light green isn't too pigmented in my opinion. The first purple there, "Resist" has a nice shimmer to it, a bit like MAC's Shale eyeshadow. "Allure" has to be built up a bit too in order to get the true colour of it.

The brushes that come with these palettes are equal in quality to the full size I think. I find that the quality can differ slightly brush to brush with Sigma though, few of my brushes are exactly the same one to another, so keep that in mind. I find their E40 to be far too large to apply eyeshadow, I find that with the MAC equivalent too, I use these more for under-eye concealer.

Would I recommend this palette? If I had to choose 1 of the 3 Sigma eyeshadow palettes at this point, I like this one the most. Bare is nice, but most people have enough neutral shades already, and Flare offers something different.Justine (Productrater)http://www.blogger.com/profile/10480877339767724575noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4212882724562774095.post-10597171951602060062011-07-13T20:41:00.002-04:002011-10-22T01:26:51.304-04:00Review: Sigma Dare Eyeshadow Palette

I promised that I would review all 3 Sigma eyeshadow palettes, the other day I reviewed the Bare palette and today it's Dare. This palette is definitely the widest and "out there" least wearable palette out of the three in my opinion. When I first looked at this palette, I thought when would I ever wear these colours? The red ones I would definitely never wear, but if you looking for something different maybe you could love this palette? These palettes retail for $35 each on Sigma's website.
I find the yellow, as expected, to be quite chalky and the cream one disappointing too. The red ones are nice swatched, but I don't think I would ever wear them.
With the Dare palette you get a E34 small tapered blending and an E20 small shader, which are both nice brushes.

Would I recommend this product? Do I dare wear dare? I think these colours definitely not for everyday, if you going for something different and like playing with colour, this could be nice for you. It's not really my taste though.Justine (Productrater)http://www.blogger.com/profile/10480877339767724575noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4212882724562774095.post-34479907548632345232011-07-08T17:45:00.004-04:002011-10-22T01:27:34.470-04:00Review: Sigma Bare Eyeshadow Palette

Sigma recently came out with new eyeshadow palettes. If you remember back in the day when they first started getting big Sigma used to have a makeup line, so it's nice that they are bringing out makeup items again. There are three palettes available: Bare (neutral tones), Dare (warm bright colours) and Flare (green and purples). These palettes are $35 each. I was sent all three palettes for review and will be doing separate posts on all three. It's just easier to do three because I want to do separate swatches and talk about the brushes that you get etc.
The packaging on these palettes may resemble the Urban Decay Naked Palette slightly, since there is a mirror, shadows going across and a compartment for a brush. The palettes comes with a box overtop the actual palette (on the bottom) and a plastic film on the shadows too so it doesn't get messy in shipping (I removed this).
It's quite heavy too, I think they could of definitely made this lighter and used less cardboard As you can tell the part where the brush sits is quite thick and the shadows definitely do not go all the way down in the box. I wouldn't take this traveling with me, it's simply too large.

The palettes come with 8 shadows, Bare contains netural, subtle shades to use for everyday. There is a shimmery black, a matte black, 4 nice neutral lid or crease tones and two lighter lid or highlighter shade. I think the colours they chose were pretty good, there is a good balance of matte/satin and shimmer shades. The shadows are quite good quality, pigmentation is nice and they aren't too chalky.

Each palette also comes with a double-ended makeup brush, which is handy you can use it to apply these shadows. Bare comes with their E25 blending brush and the E30 pencil brush. I like that the brushes differ palette to palette so you get a variety of brushes.

And most importantly the swatches of the shadows. The swatches are nicely pigmented, these are shown without any primer underneath on bare skin. Shine is a shimmery black which does show up quite a bit, Control is perhaps not as pigmented as some would like for a matte black. The darker colours in this are so pigmented that they stained my arm and fingers after doing the swatches, so be careful with that. I like the center colours the best out of this, Snoop a taupe, Hitch chocolate brown, Act neutral brown and Command a gold. Elope and Approach are very smooth which surprised me because usually light shadows like this are usually poor in palettes.

Would I recommend this product? Aside from the bulkiness of the packaging, the shadows are pigmented and nice quality, I would suggest this palette if you are looking for basic neutral looks.Justine (Productrater)http://www.blogger.com/profile/10480877339767724575noreply@blogger.com10
