Mascara Monday: L'oreal Voluminous Naturale

Today's mascara review is the L'oreal Voluminous Naturale, that's right, not the original or the Carbon Black, but the Naturale version that no one ever talks about. This is one of my favourite mascaras because it doesn't make my lashes brittle, gives nice volume and lift without looking caked on, and has a wicked cool applicator. The original Voluminous is a favourite of many people because it gives dramatic volume, whereas this one is more of a toned-down natural look. Reading the ratings for this mascara on Makeup Alley, it averages 2.9, I don't know why people dislike it so much, but then again, people have high expectations for mascara and everyone is looking for miracles, you need good lashes, then every mascara will look good on you, unless it sucks in general, then it won't.

Here is the applicator, it's one of those plastic wands, it is thin, but has tons of little teeth all over it, which enable you to get a nice smooth application. The brush is flexible too so you can bend it.

In the picture above you can see the other Voluminous mascaras and compare it to the Naturale version. You can tell the brush is thinner and plasticy while the other two have wired traditional brushes, it's a totally different mascara. I would say the formulation is similar though, and that's what makes this mascara kick ass, it's watery but thick, gives good coverage but not flaky.

Here it is applied, I think it gives considerable volume and makes my eyes pop. It gives a 'my lashes but better' look. It separates nicely whilst giving a feathery, soft appearance. It glides on very smoothly too, very easy to apply. I like that I can do one coat on one eye, than move to my other eye and do one coat, then go back and do another coat to the first eye, it does not dry fast so you can do this.

That second picture totally freaks me out! haha I love creepy eye pictures they are so fun. You can tell that the mascara is pretty good right? I can cover my bottom lashes with it too, which I have trouble with all the time. I like the fluttery effect that this mascara gives (something that I look for in mascara). The worst thing is crunchy lashes and this will not give that. L'oreal Voluminous Naturale gives definition without the clumping or crunch, I love it.
