Review: ELF Studio Glitter 11 Brush Collection

A girl can never have enough makeup brush, well this one can't. ELF recently came out with a limited edition version of their Studio 11 piece brush collection, with glitter handles! The brushes are the exact same, but they have glitter on them, and who doesn't love glitter? This sells for $30 on the ELF website, but with a 50% off coupon code (they have promotions all the time), you can get them for $15, which is what I did. You get all the Studio line brushes in a sleek, black zippered case. Each brush would normally cost you $3.

Here is what the handles look like, I think it's cute, whereas the original ones come with plain black handles. I wanted to get another Studio Powder brush, so I just opted to get this entire set instead. The zippered pouch that comes with these fits the brushes nicely and is flat and portable.

The glitter collection comes with 5 face brushes (as shown above) and 6 eye brushes. The face brushes include (from top-down) the fan brush, angled foundation brush, blush brush, complexion brush and powder brush. I've only ever owned the last 3, but I tend to think the blush and complexion is a bit fuller and softer in this set (keep in mind I purchased my original ones years ago). The powder brush, I can't say enough about, if you don't have it yet, you need it.

And here are the 5 eye brushes that include (from top-down) small smudge brush, small precision brush, small angled brush, concealer brush, contour brush, and eyeshadow "c" brush. I guess the concealer brush should of been in the face part in my review, but I actually prefer this brush for applying paint pots on my eyes so it's here instead. All these brushes are made of synthetic fibers, which personally I think is the downfall to the eye brushes, I feel that natural hairs pick up eyeshadow better.

This is a nice set if you are on a budget, I am more of a fan of the face brushes than the eye brushes from ELF, for eyes I would suggest the $1 eyeshadow brush and $1 eye blending brush, which both are favourites of mine. If you like glitter handles, I would definitely pick this up.

Do you have the ELF glitter brush set? What is your experience with ELF brushes?

Oh you got your order! I got mine today too, and I also got the flat face brush and it's soooo soft. I'm really impressed for a $3 brush.

@Obsessed.Makeup.Addict - ya typically takes two weeks for me to get ELF orders, they paid $21 to ship this package to me again, about as much as my order was!

I bought to same brush set at Winners a month ago but I had to return it because it was tampered with. It's for the best anyhow as I really only wanted the flat top powder brush. I hear nothing but good things about it. Can't wait to try their new Stippling brush too! I looove stippling brushes :D

@Ashley - Ya the ELF stuff at Winners always look suspicious, I don't want to buy anything there, and all their products are marked up anyway, cheaper to order online with a coupon code. I heard the stippling brush sucks, really thin and floppy.

I always wanna try ELF brushes and more stuffs, but they don't ship internationally and I live in Thailand. :(
I have only used their beauty books which my friends bought those for me from States.
These brushes look tempting :D

Ooh they look nice. Am using Bare Minerals brushes but these are a real bargain - will have to test them out ;)

I've never tried elf brushes before since they don't sell it in Aus, but they look really decent and cheap! I prefer a plain color handle though instead on the glitter flecks. :P

I have two of those complexion brushes, this would be a good way to tell them apart as I use them for different things. That brush case is fabulous for travelling, you can fit a few eye brushes (of your choice) in each pocket..love it! Have you tried the kabuki brushes, the black & white face brush is great!

This set would be complete with a blending brush, I think :) My beloved flat top powder brush got lots of love but the handle is loose now, which sucks

Hmmm, I need some new brushes. Considering ordering this one!

@Halifax - ALL my flat tops' handles are loose, it drives me nuts.

I got this brush set recently - during their 50% offer (non-sparkly handles though!)

I LOVE the "c" eye brush. I usually wear a wash of colour on my lids, and prefer this to my MAC shader brush (217 or 239 - can't remember the numer!)

My flat top brush is great - BUT - the handle is loose - apparently this is a problem with a lot of these brushes (according to Make Up Alley). Most reviewers say to glue it back together - but if this is a persistent problem - I just wish ELF would fix it already!

@Ella Pretty Blog - I have 5-6 of the powder brushes and on EVERY single one the handle has come loose. I know it's only $3, but the quality should be better still. I tweeted ELF about it yesterday, the other brushes don't come apart so not sure what the issue is with this one.

My other brushes have come apart as well - foundation brush and stipple have also needed some more glue. It's because during winter air in my apartment is extremely dry and those handles are made of wood - maybe they use some cheap wood that expands and shrinks more then average? Anyway every winter I have to glue my brushes back together :D.
