Review: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Sin

urban decay primer potion in sin
I love the original UDPP, it's totally a cult favourite. It keeps my eyeshadow stay on throughout the day and provides a good base for the shadow to stick to. I got it two Christmases ago and even though I use it nearly everyday, it has lasted me this long still, and I haven't depotted it yet. There is a lot of product left that gets stuck in the tube (the packaging isn't great) so please remember to cut yours open and dig the remnants out! Anyway, instead of depotting mine just yet, I decided to try out the new UDPP in the colour, Sin. This is basically the same product, just coloured, the original was a translucent, matte base and this one is a creamy, shimmery champagne colour, just like the Urban Decay eyeshadow in Sin, which is part of the permanent line. I like that because most of the shadows that I wear are neutral so the colour compliments, and the colour is to die for.

Yep I wrote on my hand with eyeliner ;)

XL is 16.3ml/0.55oz (on left) and Original (on right)

I bought this product in the XL size at Ulta, it was about $20 something. It applies really nicely, smooth and can give a nice sparkle to your tearduct. I have read that some girls wear it on it's own as an eyeshadow, however I find that when you blend it in, the colour pretty much disappears, maybe I am blending it in too much? This stuff stays put, I fell asleep with makeup on one night (yes I know bad) and my eyeshadow still looked the same the next day.

This bottle has the slanted applicator, which I like cause it covers your lid better, just swipe and blend in. If you like the original UDPP, I think you will like this one too, especially if you like wearing shimmery eyeshadow colours on top, because it brings those out nicely. I think you could wear it alone with a MAC paint pot over, like Bare Study (which is similar) and it would look really pretty. Urban Decay also has another primer potion in the colour, Eden, which is supposed to double up as a concealer too, it is more yellow toned, I haven't tried that one yet.

Do you guys like all the reviews lately? I like doing them. If you have any requests for future reviews, please let me know! :D

I like sin becasue you can easily wear it alone without adding anything ontop. I use this less often than my Original UDPP though

@makeup by kim - but does it show up when you blend it in? I find that is my problem. The swatch I did is just a swipe.

@eleventh - have you tried the original udpp?

I've used UDPP plain and now use Eden. I like them both. My eyelids are a bit darker and it lightens them up to take the shadow better. And of course the staying power is excellent. :) I hope you depot yours as even though the container is so cute...its so wasteful of product. I depot mine into new lip gloss applicators with the brush built in. One bottle of UDPP can fill 4 lip gloss tubes with a little left over. Great value then. :)
