L’oreal Passport to Paradise Summer 2010 Collection

loreal passport to paradise
L'oreal recently released this Passport to Paradise Collection, it includes 3 gorgeous colours: Waters Edge, Ocean Breeze and High Tide. These are basically dupes of last year's Essie Northfork Collection (link to scrangie's post). If you don't know L'oreal bought out Essie so this is probably why they put out such similar colours. I wanted Greenport from that Essie collection for the longest time, but for whatever reasons, I passed on ordering it online and didn't ever find it stores cause it sold out so quickly. These polishes though, for only $5.99 each at Rexall/ Pharma Plus this week (not sure if that's the regular price) are almost identical, so it's really great to pick up these up if you don't have the Essie colours.

These JUST appeared in Canada, I was looking for them forever, so I was so happy to finally find them! Cause they are gorgeous! I heard these are a nightmare to apply, but frankly, Essie... your polishes are always a disaster for me, so I couldn't imagine these being all that terrible. I prefer my polishes to be more on the thick side anyway, I can't stand applying the first coat and you can hardly see it, these applied fine for me. All swatches are 2 coats with basecoat.

loreal high tide
"High Tide" is a muted grayish blue with silver shimmers, and a close dupe to Essie's Sag Harbour. You can't really notice the shimmer on your nails, they are very subtle. I didn't think I would like this one, but after applying it, I really do. It's very unique.

loreal ocean breeze
"Ocean Breeze" is a pretty blue creme, akin to Essie's Shelter Island. This one was sort of watery on first coat, but filled up after two no problem. I could of probably used a third coat here.

loreal waters edge
"Waters Edge" is a turquoise creme, very similar to Essie' Greenport. This one is the prettiest of the three. I love love love colours like this.

If you get these, you gotta get all 3, they are beautiful as a set. The names of these however, are pretty lame, not memorable at all. I am going to refer to them as greenport dupe, sag harbour dupe and shelter island dupe. I can't seem to remember these names at all.

Nice colors. These are similar to the colors in Essie's Resort Collection released earlier this year.

@Makeup by Kim - I guess the turquoise and blue look like resort, but these are dead on northfork dupes.

i love the last polish, very pretty. i hate how make up lines take so long to get here sometimes. i'm still waiting on the revlon summer lipglosses, or maybe they've already come and gone?

@Cindy - revlon super lustrous lipglosses from the daydream collection? the peach, pink and purple ones? We've had them in canada for some time, I posted about them earlier. The lilac pastelle (purple one) is really popular and I hardly ever see it in stock anywhere.

great review. What is the formula like on these nail polishes? Is it streaky or clumpy?

@susie - the formula, I thought it was pretty good, except for the blue one, it was watery on first coat. Ya. no major problems at all. ;)
