Mascara Mondays: Rimmel Glam Eyes

Today's mascara review is Rimmel's Glam Eyes mascara. I know it says "new" on the tube, but this one isn't new, just when I purchased this it was. I love the name on this one, Glam Eyes, it sounds classy and fancy. This mascara is supposed to be an "ultra-volume, high definition mascara". On the Rimmel website, this is also described as "Seductive Volume. Turn heads. New VolumFlex Brush styles lashes for sensational volume and instant separation. Ultra supple elasto-bristles groom each lash, lacquering them from root to tip for a spectacular 7 x more lash intensity. Big Lash Seduction. High Definition. Maximum lash impact. Impeccable definition. Smoothing formula glides through lashes, wrapping each one for ultimate volume yet perfect separation. Lashes look dramatically amplified yet sleekly defined - even up close and personal." I like the packaging of this, the tube is black and light pink with what looks like stockings or checkered top. I think Rimmel has really cute girly packaging for most of their mascara, and I am a sucker for them and have bought several throughout the years, despite hearing little or nothing about how good or bad they are.

The applicator on this is different, you can tell mine is bent a bit, that's not how it comes, that's from taking it out of the tube and it bending, the wand is very flexible.

A closer look at the brush here, it has 4 rows of spiky bristles. These are quite tall so they can swipe your lashes and lift them pretty well. I like the brush, it's definitely unique. And since the wand is so flexible, you would think they had a winner here.

Before and after here, you can tell it gives pretty good volume and length is average. The picture isn't focused too well, but you get the idea.

But a closer look and we see the clumpyness. I have little bits of this mascara all over my lashes (and smearing on my top lashline), despite that fancy applicator, perhaps the formula needs some work. I have read that people found this to be quite wet, mine was pretty dry (but that could be because it's older than old).

I think this is an okay mascara, better than some, but it does get clumpy on my lashes which is a pain. The result is nice though. I would not repurchase this one, the packaging is cute, but it doesn't perform that great that would bring me back to it. Not so glam.

Have you tried Rimmel's Glam Eyes?

I tried this one, wasn't a fan! I need a really thickening mascara for my taste! I also don't really like the "spiky" rubbery bristles for mascara so this won didn't win for me! You have a really pretty eye colour by the way! :)

hm, you know I've never tried Rimmel Mascaras - I don't know why, I just don't gravitate towards them. I hate any clumpiness so I probably will stay away.

I found the formula too wet on that one. It kept smudging on my eyelids and it took forever to dry.

@Dee - In that case, I think fine was horribly dried out! lol

I have this! I do like it though, it combs through my lashes really well (the long side) and the short side puts on more volume. The only thing is that the initial greatness of this mascara only lasted a few weeks because yes, it dried out quickly; but i really fancied it at the start!

Ya, this mascara applicator looks like it'll do a good job at applying mascara. Do you keep the mascara wand for its shape and use it with another better mascara product?

And just curious, you have so many product reviews. Are you able to finish up the product after opening and reviewing them? Or do you throw them out after the 3 months (the expiration time)?

@Michelle - I have lots of products and try to use stuff as much as possible. With mascara, I can tell lots of them have gone bad (dried up) since they only last for such a short time. I've been trying to go through my mascara more since I am moving at the end of the month and want to throw out anything that does not have to come along with me. These reviews have helped me do that, I get a review out of it and get to throw it again too. I do not re-use applicators, I have too many. ;)
