Review: Dior Skin Nude Foundation

Dior Skin Nude is hands down one of the best foundation that I've ever used. I got this last month and have been reaching for it over all my other foundations often. I think I am going crack down and do a bunch of foundation reviews over the next week or so, because I want to throw A LOT of my "failed" foundations away and only be left with what I really like. For me, that will take a lot of time since you all know I am quite the foundation hoarder.

Anyway, back to the review, I love this foundation because 1) it gives natural looking medium coverage 2) gives a lovely glowy finish 3) feels hydrating and comfortable on my skin. Those points are in no particular order, but the feeling good on my skin one is very important to me. I find that foundation application is difficult for me a lot of the time because my skin is SO dry and many drugstore foundation are catered to those with oily/normal skin, they fail to recognize that those with dry skin also need foundation.

I have this in the lightest colour, 010 which I thought was too light at first, but it actually works nicely, its either too warm or too cool. The perfect colour for me. I have the trouble of going too dark with foundations (hello drugstore foundation) because a colour light enough for me just does not exist, which is a shame because I am not that light either. On the back of the bottle, it instructs you to shake the bottle before use, this is actually really important for this product, since it is so thin texture and liquidly, it needs to be mixed well in the bottle for it to work correctly. The foundation has a scent too, a light flowery one that I actually really like.

The packaging on Dior Skin Nude is beautiful, it comes in a luxurious glass bottle with a very nice pump. For me, half the battle in finding a good foundation is one that comes with a pump! All foundations should have a pump damnit. Why do companies keep putting out expensive foundation $40-60 with NO pump just irritates me. I have read that over time, the pump on this stops working however, and it's difficult to get the reminder out, hasn't happened to me yet but I haven't had it long enough either.

My review for this foundation is that it's totally awesome, a glowing review for such a glowing product!

Dior DiorSkin Nude Hydrating Makeup

Today was/is the last day to use your $15/$20 off Sephora coupon! Thank goodness for great friends online I came across another $15 off coupon and hurried away to Sephora tonight to pick up another, yes another foundation. It's funny how much joy a little black bag can make me, that Sephora bag is so pretty and brings joy to me. What brings me more joy is having Dior DiorSkin Nude foundation. This retails for $47 CAD and I got it for $37 with tax today with my coupon. I got the lightest colour, 010 Ivory. I was recommend this by a friend on here, Junerose and decided to give it a go.

First impressions of this product, it comes in a luxurious heavy glass bottle with silver lid and a nice pump. The colour range is good, not many colours, but colours are nicely suited for lighter skintones I think. The shade is 020 could of worked for me, more yellow-toned, but the girl there said I should match it with my neck (pastey white neck) and this matched better. It feels nice on my dry skin, I like it lots so far. I will update with a complete review in a few weeks. I got three foundations out of this Sephora sale, I been bad.

Have you tried DiorSkin Nude?

Favourite Summer Perfumes

In the summer, I like wearing fragrances that are not too intense or over-powering, nothing too musky, spicy or strong. I prefer lighter, between flowery and fruity or citrusy scents. Scents definitely remind you of certain times of your life (or people) or memories that you hold dear and in the summer, I want smells that make me feel relaxed and fresh. Today, I will go over some of my favourites that I often reach for in the hot, humid summer months. My picks are not very original, I tend to buy the same perfumes everyone else does, so this list won't be a surprise to you at all. The descriptions of notes and stuff are off sites like basenotes, fragrantica, I have no idea how to describe scents, they smell like sweet..vanilla, musky to me. ;P

escada ocean lounge
Escada - Ocean Lounge
Notes: Top notes are litchi, plum, pear nectar accord and strawberry meringe accord; middle notes are violet petal sorbet aromas, mimose blossom and jasmine; base notes are amber, sheer vanilla and teak wood.
All Escada perfumes have a summer feel to me, once you have one, you have them all. They are very sweet and make me think of the beach. This one has recently made my month's favourites. This smells very young and fun.

marc jacobs daisy
Marc Jacobs Daisy
Notes: Top notes are violet leaf, strawberry and grapefruit; middle notes are jasmine, gardenia and violet; base notes are woodsy notes, musk and vanilla.
I like this year round, but it's nice for summer too. Just the name "Daisy" makes you think of fields of flowers and summer. This smells very grassy to me.

burberry brit
Burberry Brit
Notes: It opens with fresh notes of green lemon, frosted pear and white almond. The heart blooms with white peony. The drydown is very gourmand with vanilla, amber, mahogany and balsamic Tonka bean accords.
This smells like straight up vanilla to me. This is light and sweet, non-offensive. It does not last very long however, that's its downside.

miss dior cherie
Christian Dior Miss Dior Cherie
Notes: The top notes are wild strawberry leaves and green tangerine. The heart features caramel pop corns surrounded by violets, wild strawberry and pink jasmine. The base is created of fresh patchouli leaves and crystalline musk.
Miss Dior Cherie has no season to me, it is perfect year round and could be my signature scent. It is very classic, addicting, long lasting and feminine.

juicy couture perfume
Juicy Couture Juicy Couture
Notes: A lush mix of watermelon, mandarin, passionfruit, apple, tuberose, caramel creme brulee with woods and patchouli.
The original Juicy Couture is really nice for summer. This is a very recognizable scent because it is so popular, so you generally smell like every other girl walking down the street when you wear this (so if you are into that).

Gwen Stefani LAMB
Gwen Stefani L by L.A.M.B.
Notes: Leafy water hyacinth, fresh pear, violet leaves, white freesia,'sparking green freshness'. Jasmine, rose, muguet, sweet pea, orange blossom. peach skin, frangipani, heliotrope, sensual musk.
This smells like summer in a bottle to me,  it stays on all day too.

stella mccartney peony in two
Stella Mccartney Peony in Two
Notes: Top notes are peony and rose; middle notes are and pepper; base notes are virginia cedar, patchouli and amber.
My aunt got this one year for Christmas and I had to track it down for myself, I bought it off amazon recently, and it's great. I love the smell of Peony, so this is a must-have for me.

May Favourites!

The end of the month is almost here, so here comes my monthly favourites for... May. These are products that I've enjoyed using the most this month. I like choosing products from every category, like one from brushes, eyeshadow, foundation, perfume, skincare, lip products and so on, just makes it easier to narrow it down, cause I use a lot of different things throughout the month.

1. MAC Face & Body Foundation:  I have raved about this product before but it was in pretty heavy use this month, so I chose to include it. It is great for summer, great for days when you don't want to wear a lot, but still want to cover up some flaws.

2. Miss Dior Cherie Perfume: I got this perfume around Christmas, it's one of my all-time favourites, very sweet smelling, it's got notes of caramelized popcorn and strawberry in it, really pretty, totally recommend it and I love the cute bottle with the bow on it.

3. L'oreal Copper Caravan Eyeshadow Quad - This quad is really nice, it has lots of bronzey colours, which I like for summer months. It really lights up your eyes. This is from L'oreal surprisingly, one of those limited edition types they sell in drugstores from time to time, I picked this up a year ago or so.

4. MAC Golden Bronzer - This bronzer is foolproof and great for lighter skintones. I use it with a pretty heavy hand and it adds a nice contour to my cheeks, one of my holy grail products for sure.

5. Revlon Lustrous Lipgloss in Lilac Pastelle and Peach Petal - These lipglosses are super pigmented and not sticky. I love the purple one especially, finally tracked it down while I was in the states this month and am really pleased with it.

6. Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin - My original UDPP was running low, so I decided to pick up a new one in sin. This is the XL bottle, which I think makes sense cause I use this every time I put on eyeshadow. I hear that some girls wear just this on it's own for a light shimmery look on your lids, but for me I find it just disappears after a while, so I use it as a base, just like I would with the UDPP.

7. Sonia Kashuk Powder Brush - One of two of the SK brushes that I own, this one does shed a bit, which is annoying, but I love the size and fullness of it to apply powders and bronzers. And the handle is really cool.

8. Garnier Skin Renew Brusher Cleanser - I got this as a tester two months back and love this product, it has quickly become included in my daily routine. It smells good, does not irritate my skin and the brusher is really handle to clean your face nicely.

And that's it for May... what were some of your May faves? xo
