Revlon Lip Butters, everyone has heard about them by now. They are in between a chapstick and a lipstick, the perfect balance between colour and moisture. I love them because my lips get cracked and dry when I attempt to wear most lipsticks. I am one of those people who reapplies chapstick (my top choice is Blistex Lip Medex in stick form) all day long in the winter, that's how dry my lips are. These are a great substitute for lipstick for me. They come in a huge variety of colours and now can be found in Canada and the US pretty readily.
Well.ca and some more during the Rexall BOGO lipstick sale, I have 14 out of the 20 now. I will be bringing you this review in two parts (because I have that many to go through).
Another beef I have is the terminology of this product, which many other bloggers have brought up, when I think of "butter" I think nourishing, moisturizing, with some sort of agent to protect my lips, usually in the form of a pot. These lip butters aren't really "butters" at all, although it is a cute name. I always wear a lipbalm underneath these as well if I can remember because although they are moist, they aren't moisturizing enough for me on their own.
Here are my bare lips with nothing on them. They are moderately pigmented.
We will start this review out with my favourite lip butter of the bunch, Lollipop. This is a bright pink fuchsia colour, very pigmented.
Pink Truffle, you'd think it would be pink, but this one comes off quite brown/pink on me. Not my favourite out of the bunch of sure. More of a subtle, everyday colour.
Strawberry Shortcake is a really nice pale pink, probably my favourite pink out of the collection.
Candy Apple is a bright red orange. It's very pigmented and definitely more on the lipstick side than the chapstick. I love this colour for the winter.
Cherry Tart is much like Candy Apple but it's more on the cooler side with blue undertones. Also very pigmented.
Raspberry Pie is a pinky red, very pigmented as well. With this one, Candy Apple and Cherry Tart you definitely need a mirror to put on, or else you will get it all over your lips.
Which Revlon Lip Butters did you pick up and which are your favourite?
these were def cheaper in Pharmaplus - I paid $10 something with taxes in during the BOGO sale
Shoppers is a f*cking rip off!
these colours are so pretty! i like the sheerness with pigmentation. thanks for the swatches
I love these too! Lollipop and cherry tart look great on your lips!
I hope they bring them in the UK soon, other wise I will ask my mum to buy me some! But I wasn't aware they were so expensive! Ouch!
woo! good job on the pictures! it looks better. i still havent tried these lip butters. i am just going to save up for more expensive versions ha. plus i dont really wear lip products all that much to buy so many of the colors...
thank you sooo much for this review. These are unavailable in my country so far so this allows me to lust over them before they get here xD
$15 is a crazy price. They were $10.99 at my Shopper's. I picked up one more (Gumdrop) I did see that Shopper's had more to choose from than Well/ca did. So far, Gumdrop and Peach Pafait have been my most used.
"If you are medium-dark skinned this will just wash you out and make you look dead."
You are right about that, this one is the only one I have out of the ones you reviewed and I hate it. It does make me look like a corpse! I love all the other ones I got though and I see some others here I will have to pick up. My favorite of your swatches is Pink Truffle, but I also want Cherry Tart, and Raspberry Pie. Thanks for the swatches and I'll be on the lookout for your next post on these.
I got Creamsicle and Strawberry Shortcake over the weekend and I love them! :)
Nice collection you got going! :)
I love these. I just finally got Red Velvet from Well.ca since they were $8.99. Still hurts, because I think I paid $5.99 for them in California.
I'm loving Berry Smoothie!!! I have Cherry Tart and Cupcake as well...but I want more! XD
gorgeous! i cant wait till these get released here. I love the bolder ones, im not one for bright colours but they look so good on your lip swatches!
When I first saw these, they reminded me of the MAC Sheen Supremes. They seem less pigmented but also a little less thick and gooey.
i think candy apple is gorgeous! im soo picking that one up. great swatches! :)
i bought these when they first came out and barely am trying them out - they are quite moisturizing! :) love the swatches - I need to pick up a few more colors after seeing your swatches!
Amazing lip swatches! I'm so excited about these lip butters, I want them so badly. Hopefully they make their way into Europe soon. <3 :)
I love these too! Love the texture and the moisture! It is like the lipstick for lipgloss/balm girls! :) xoxo
I have a couple of these and have only tried Raspberry pie. I have to say you MUST use a mirror to apply these.
I am not in love with the lip butters. I like them but....they don't necessarily provide any extra moisture-I too was thrown off by the 'butter' title.
Great post-Kudos for posting the different shades on your lips.
I love the Candy Apple color-- thanks for the swatches, these are so helpful. What kind of camera do you use? I am starting a blog and I have a terrible time taking decent pics-- all I have is my iphone camera right now...
Raspwery pie is the best way to make up i've ever seen before..
Great swatches! Those are very pretty colors. I love Revlon's lipstick :) And the lighting in your shots is good.
Just bought Rasberry Pie, $1.95 @ CVS. Phoenix, Az. Love it:) 75-50% off select cosmetics. I want more, 5 for$10, heck yes:)
