Review: Everyday Minerals Snuggle Blush

I have a ton of Everyday Minerals sample blushes from back in the day when they used to let you choose free sample kits that had blushes, eyeshadow and foundation in them. I do not believe they do that anymore, the free sample kits are only for foundations (or bases as they call them), which are pre-determined based on skintones. You can still buy sample sizes for $2.50 though, which is reasonable. Their blushes are actually pretty good, and you can get by with just a sample size since you do get lots of product and with blush, you don't need that much anyway.

Snuggle is a peachy pink blush with a really cute name. On the Everyday Minerals website, it is described as "A radiant pink with a hint of peach and a dust of sheen". I see more peach than pink in it though, and it does have shimmer in it, which adds some glow to your skin. This is in mineral form so it can be messy, I find with these sample jars it is really hard to get the right amount of product and you end up wasting a lot, but the full size ones are just too damn big. I wish this came in pressed form instead.

I got mine during a time when they were transitioning through their packaging. I was lucky enough to get this in a large container, but the amount of product that I got was the same as the normal size. As you can tell the container with the green lid is much larger than the white one (white is what they use now). And the picture below is the swatch from the website, pretty accurate I think.

If you like light, peachy pink blushes, this blush may be for you. I think it would flatter many skin tones. It is quite pigmented, but since it is a mineral blush it does take some swipes to get the right opacity. I am used to pressed blush so it took me some effort to get this to work for me. I did find that it wore off throughout the day though, staying power isn't great on these. The texture is great, it blends very easily. It does have shimmer, but it doesn't look like you have glitter on your face at all, it's subtle.

I may do more swatches of their blushes if you guys are interested, I have loads of them and should really use them. Do you have any Everyday Minerals blushes?

Everyday Minerals New Brushes Tapered Sculpting Face Brush, Large Mineral Brush, and Itahake Brush

I haven't ordered anything from Everyday Minerals in probably over two years. I used to use their minerals foundations exclusively and was a big fan. Then they started changing their kits around and everything got more expensive and so I moved on. They used to have this awesome kit where you could choose any 12 items for $60 I think it was, and any 6 items for $32. I don't remember the exact amounts, but it was something like this. Nothing was excluded, you could get full sized foundations, eyeshadows and best of all their brushes.  Anyway, I was bored last night and just browsing around and noticed that they have some new brushes out! I love my EDM Flat Top Kabuki (very similar to Sigma F80) and my long handled kabuki so new brushes from Everyday Minerals definitely intrigued me! Anyone know if they took the forum away on the website? I can't find it anywhere.

The first two new brushes are the Tapered Sculpting Face Brush and the Large Mineral Brush (pictured above), both have bamboo handles and totally synthetic bristles, which EDM is known for. The Tapered Sculpting Face Brush (retails for $12, on special now for $9) is a dome-shaped and multi-functioning, intended to be used for contouring, highlighting and blending mineral face powders. The shape of this looks really cool, almost like the egg-shaped MAC brush, but round instead. I may have to order this one, but I am going to read up some reviews before I take the plunge and since it's new-ish, there aren't many around.

The Large Mineral Brush (retails for $14, on special for $11) looks like the EDM long-handled kabuki but with a longer handle, and a tad rounder. This brush doesn't excite me as much, but it's cool too.

Next is this crazy looking Japanese-inspired, Itahake Brush (sells for $15, and currently out of stock). This brush has a flat surface with round edges, and is described as being "the perfect artisan brush to go along with your favo(u)rite face brushes." I personally don't know how I would use this other than maybe contouring? It looks really cool though and totally unique.

Initial Review: Sigma Makeup F80 vs. Everyday Minerals Flat Top Brush

I just received these brushes in the mail today, so this is an initial review only. I haven't washed them or used them, just commenting on their design and appearance. I get excited when I get packages in the mail and was anticipating these for a while. Sigma makeup was a brand that I was very skeptical about, judging by all the youtube videos (that seem staged a lot of the time) these are supposed to be AMAZING right? Well, I am pessimistic by nature and need proof to really know for sure. My MAC brush collection is small, so I wasn't expecting dupes here, just good brushes and I think I got that. The shipping to Canada is $7 a brush, $14 for a kit, but I paid $14 shipping for two brushes, which sucks and I will definitely wait until I want a lot of them before I order again. It took two weeks to receive these. The brushes that I got were the SS150 (now the F30)  and the F80, formerly known as the SS197. I think they are in the process of changing their brush names, so that they aren't MAC-equivalents but their own, which I think is a very good move.

The F80 was the one I was most excited about because I love my Everyday Minerals flat top brush and wanted something like that one, as I use flat top brushes for applying foundation more than any other brush. As you can tell the EDM one is shorter obviously, more compact.

 The bristles are slightly longer on the EDM.

In terms of fullness, I would say the bristles on the F80 are finer and there are more of them. The brush head is pretty much identical. Keep in mind, I have just washed my EDM brush and it has been widely used for years so it looks kind of rough here. When you push down on the F80 I feel like it has less "give" than the EDM, so a bit firmer, but that is probably only because the bristles are shorter slightly, so there is less bounce to it.

I think the F80 is great, based on first impressions. If you don't have the EDM one, I would suggest getting this one for sure. It did not smell funky or anything when I got it, and it's very soft. It met my expectations for sure. My EDM has never shed and I have been able to pull out some of the hairs off the F80 already, and that was before washing it or using it... so maybe a sign of things to come.

June Favourites

June went by too fast, or maybe it was just me. Here are my favourites for this month.

MAC Fix+: A nice refresher for the hot weather.

Stella Mccartney Sheer Perfume: This is quite soft and flowery, but I like it for everyday and have been reaching for it a lot this month. This was limited edition, I don't know if you can get it anymore. It's old, but I still love it.

Maybelline Lash Stiletto Voluptuous: Love this mascara and have a full review of it here. Most used mascara for this month.

Maybelline Double Perfector Concealer/Highlighter: Picked this up this month and really took to liking it, it's double ended and smooth to apply, alright coverage. Full review of this coming soon.

MAC Refined Golden: I have to include a bronzer every month, this month's most used was this one because it's very pigmented for my fair skin and gets the job done quick.

NYX Champagne and Caviar palette - I picked up this from Cherry Culture recently, it's a nude/browns palette and I have been using that top left gold colour for about half the month everyday, it's a good all over lid colour, as many of the colours in this palette are.

L'oreal Colour Juice in Pina Colada - Nice sheer your lips but a tad paler colour.

The Body Shop Vitamin C SPF daily moisturizer -  Love the smell of this and the kinda fresh, citrus feeling that it leaves on your skin.

Everyday Minerals Flat Top Kabuki - I think I've had this brush for like 3 years at least. It has never shed and is really dense and great for applying any kind of foundation, is very portable and does not smell rancid. Perfect brush ever.

The Body Shop Aloe Gentle Foam Face Wash - one cleanser that does not strip my skin of all the moisture it has, really gentle and fresh. I could see myself using this up quick.
