Monthly Faves: April 2011

May is here, Happy Cinco De Mayo everyone! And today I am doing my favourites from last month. As you probably know, April was my no-buy makeup ban month, I did find except for the MAC Ever Hip lipstick that I couldn't resist near the end of the month.

1. Hard Candy Glamoflauge - I love love love this concealer, it rivals that of high-end brands, gives great coverage and the amount that you get is huge. Perfect. Check out the full review here.

2. YSL Faux Cils - One of the best mascaras that I've used ever, gives great volume and is easy to apply. Check out the full review here.

3. The Body Shop Vitamin E eye cream - I've been trying to stick to the habit of applying an eye cream every night and this is my favourite one.

4. The Body Shop Wise Woman Vitality Serum - If you have dry skin like me, you probably love what serums can do, they act as a first moisturizer for me and help out my skin a lot.

5. Revlon Colostay Active - When I go on my daily night walks with my boyfriend I like having a foundation on to cover up my red face and most foundations slide around too much, Revlon Active is really great, awesome coverage too. Click here for the full review.

6. Burberry Brit - Definitely one of my favourite perfumes ever, wore this a lot last month.

7. Clinique Redness Solutions Urgent Relief Cream - Not really a favourite per say, but I've been trying to get in the habit of using this more last month to see if it actually works. This product has 0.5% Hydrocortisone Acetate and is meant to relieve minor irritation associated with dryness, redness and itching. I use it as a primer a couple times a week, I think it works to tone down redness. If you've used this product please let me know!

What were your faves for April?

  2. I use the Vitamin E Eye Cream, I love it. Unlike the Clinique All About Eyes I find it doesn't make my eyes sore and irritated. xx

  3. @Sophie - I wasn't too impressed with the Clinique All About Eyes either, it's pretty blah and so expensive!

  5. Oooh, I'll have to try that serum! I keep meaning to look for the ColorStay Active and keep forgetting. I'd love to try it for those summer days where I go to the park or the Island. I'm really interested in trying Clinique's Redness Solutions line of products. Can't wait to hear if the cream worked for you or not!

  6. I don't wanna be a downer but it sounds like you might have mild rosacea and one of the worst things for it is hydrocortisone. You might already know this but the long term effects of using hyrdrocortisone cream is skin thinning. 2 times a week doesn't sound too bad but I wanted to tell you. I have mild rosacea and I really like using jojoba oil mixed with a good moisturizer at night to improve the moisture barrier. I also take supplements and I use face washes that don't have any sulfates in them. I do tons of things to try to prevent flushing and flare ups but I still do get them sometimes (I'm not on any prescription meds for rosacea though). Anyway if you think you might have mild rosacea I would def recommend going to a derm and getting diagnosed.

  7. @Anonymous - thanks for the comments, I really appreciate it. Which supplements are you taking? I did hear about the skin thinning that's why I was scared to use this product to begin with, I am going to lay off it now I think.. I don't want to damage my skin, that would be worst than having red cheeks!

  13. Hi Justine,

re: supplements, I take: Evening Primrose Oil, Flaxseed Oil and Krill oil capsules (or any good quality fish oil can substitute for the Krill). These are most, if not all, of the essential fatty acids which are great for inflammation. One of the best ways to avoid flare ups (for me) is to eat really healthy (fruits, veggies, whole grains etc.) and avoid heavily processed food.

  14. Great favourites. I have the Body Shop eye cream and although I'm not completely in love with it, I still think its a good product. Have you tried their aloe vera lip treatment? Amazing!
I used to be obsessed with Burberry Brit perfume but haven't tried it in a while. Will have to give it a sniff the next time I am in Shoppers.
    xx
