Monthly Faves: May 2011

It's such a beautiful day today, actually all week has been so far in Toronto. I am blogging outside on my balcony! June is here and here are my May favourites.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer - For days that I just want a bit of coverage, this tinted moisturizer is very nice. Although I am not a fan of the packaging, the product oozes out of the nozzle. Anyone else have this problem? I want to use this up quickly as mine expires this month, although I always use a moisturizer with SPF underneath anyway. Click here for my complete review.

Reviva Labs Under-eye Dark Circle Serum - I was sent a bunch of products from Reviva Labs to review, I've been using them off and on throughout the month, this product has impressed me the most. Many eye creams are too thick for me and cause me to get milia or beakouts under the eyes. If you suffer from dark circles, this product is great because it contains DMAE which is a skin firmer. It has some of the same ingredients as their Hyaluronic Acid Serum, which I also have. Although I have been reading that DMAE is also known to cause cell irritation and cell death, so I am not too much I would recommend this product entirely, still have to do some research on it myself. Let me know if you are familiar with these ingredients or used this product.

MUFE HD blush - I bought this in the full size of shade #12 First Kiss, but I've been trying to use up my sample first and it looks like it's gonna last me a long time. This is a gorgeous peach coral shade. Click here for my complete review.

Moroccan Oil - I bought the small bottle of this to try out before committing to the full size. After dying my hair multiple times in May, it's now dry and brittle, so I need any kind of conditioning that I can. This oil is great for my hair, I thought it would be too thick but it's not.

Garnier Dark Circle Eye Roller - Although I am not a fan of it's concealing abilities (light coverage), I do like how this product feels on my skin and I used it everyday in the month of May. Click here for the complete review.

Garnier Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel Cream - This product has appeared in my monthly favourites a couple of times now. It's my all-time favourite face cream, I love the texture and cooling feel of this on my skin.

No.7 Lifting and Firming foundation - I picked this up for only $3 at Shoppers Drug Mart last month, I think they were doing some massive clearance sale. They had concealers and powders, all sorts of items from this brand, I really should of picked up more. However, it is expired, although that didn't stop me from trying it. Isn't there something that stops stores from selling expired cosmetics? Even for $3 it seems sketchy to me.

What were your favourites for May?

  1. I've been trying out products from Reviva Labs also, I am in love with their makeup primer! :)

  2. I love the feeling of the Garnier roller ball too. It doesn't do anything to change my under eyes, but it makes me feel like I wake up. I prefer putting it on at night, and then again in the morning.

  3. Hey Justine! I am getting ready to post my faves too (but have to edit the video first). Great list! I am testing out that Reviva Labs Dark Circle Serum as well and I like it (it does not seem to irritate my sensitive eyes)! :) xoxo!

  4. I haven't decided how I feel about the moroccan oil, i've been putting off doing a review for awhile. Also, I have the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Sand or Nude I can't remember (it came in a package deal thingy) so I've been holding off using it until my face gets a little more tanned... hopefully soon!!

I can't seem to find No.7 foundation in my shoppers... but they really shouldn't sell expired products...

  7. Hey Justine....has the Reviva labs serum helped with your under eye circles/darkness?

  8. frecklesspeckles - They had all the products out on clearance and they were all expired from what I could tell. It didn't say anywhere warning these are expired or anything. I mean, people were probably buying them unknowingly.

    @Beautytidbits - I think it has.

  9. Nice faves Justine!

I am dying to try that Moroccan Oil. My hair is really dry and frizzy. I am sure that this would do wonders at keeping my hear healthy and shiny.

I have the Garnier Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel cream. It is very refreshing on the skin. I wish all moisturizers gave that feeling LOL! :)

  10. you're lucky ur having great weather. the weather is going psycho in my neighborhood -_-" we had a 15 min tornado watch before the sun came out and then it poured again before the sun popped out again... so bipolar. for the garnier gel creme do you think it would be good for oily skin? i was getting tempted to buy it since it's so cheap but I'm kind of scared to see if it'll work with my skin

  11. What did you think of the Boots foundation? I'm thinking of trying it.

  12. @sweetkiss - I think the garnier gel cream would be great on oily skin since it's not all that moisturizing.

@Tania - I like it a lot, medium coverage I would say, nice texture. I will do a complete review soon.

  13. My Shopper's had No.7 stuff on sale a few weeks ago but only skincare and mascara. I picked up a mascara for $3 but I haven't opened it yet.

I used to really like the Garnier Gel Cream, but I found it just wasn't enough for my skin to use all the time.

  14. Can't believe the No7 foundation was only $3. They would never sell it for £3, here!

I haven't tried their foundation yet, but in general I like their products!

  15. I still can't believe that I haven't bought Moroccan Oil! I have the shampoo and conditioner, but really need to commit to buying the oil. It sounds great!
