My Nail Polish Collection (as of June 4, 2010)

This was requested from a follower of mine... eleventhofapril... :D

I started collecting actively a year ago or so, I bought the odd polish here and there earlier, but it has been an obsession for about that long. Once I found nail etailers like Transdesign and Amazon ones too, the stash grew steadily. I need better organization for sure and am still working out how to store all my babies. How do you store yours?

I tried to categorize these into colour groups, thought that would be easiest, but as I went along, I saw that some should of been added to other piles and so on. You can click on the image to enlarge it.

Also, my OPI Pamplona Purple rolled off the bed and smashed into pieces on the floor, so that sucked.. these bottles are not very thick, the smashing sound was pretty good too, so RIP Pamplona Purple :(.

Blues:

(whoops reverse the labels om OPI no room for the blues and Suzy says feng shui pleasee!)

Teals:
 teal nail polish collection
(that should read CG blue sparrow and sexy in the city, not SH)

Light Purples:
purple nail polish collection
(ignore the dark purple on the bottom, it shouldn't be there and thus not labelled)

Peaches:

Yellows:

Berry:

Pinks:

Corals:

Browns/Gray:

Purples:

Reddy Purples:

Glitters:

Golds:

Darks:
(on far right, is orly Goth, not CG)

Neutrals:

Reds:

(the last two on the top, shouldn't be in this group!)

Plums:
nail polish collection plums
(my biggest category I think, I love my plums)

That took ages to put together.. that's like 98% of my polishes, I think I may have forgotten a couple. Also it was my first time using Gimp for imac so I had some issues getting this together. I count..223! Eek.

You know you are polish-obsessed when:
- You see a new OPI/China Glaze/Essie colour and immediately can think of 3-4 colours already in your collection that look just like that one.
- You look forward to new collections and seek out swatches online constantly.
- There are always upcoming packages that you are waiting for in the mail.
- You don't know where to put it all
- You have "backups" or accidental multiples of the same colour.

  2. @ eleventh - I did it just for you ;)
It took forever and labelling it all, but I like looking at it all, puts my obsession into the open now for the world to see.

  3. @justine - this is why i hardly ever bother with labelling right on pictures ! editing of videos and photos takes forever ! that's why typing it under the pictures is the easiest for me lol!

  4. haha @justine.. we are the only ones commenting here.. I agree it takes forever, it's the first time I did it, but I think I am going to keep doing it now cause it looks more professional and if my pics get linked anywhere you can tell easily what is in the picture.

  6. WOW!!!! I hope you always have your nails painted with THIS amount of polishes. =P I have a boxload of them too -but not a collective thing. I never paint my nails though so there's no point!

Lovely collection. Do you have a way of organizing them?? I love to know how people store their makeup LOL.

  7. @lalahoo - My nails are painted everyday and I try to do them different everyday.

@kali - they are just in shoeboxes, I was hoping people would give me suggestions on how to organize it all. ;)

  9. I'll say HOLY SHIT too. LOL.
So nice seeing them in bundled colors like that. It must have taken so much time. Love it.
I have one rack which holds a little over 100 and baskets full. I would love to get another rack or two or three. :)
    COOL post,

  11. Wow - there's some inspiration... I'm about half way to your stage haha.
At the moment, I just keep mine in a box too. But I hear that a lot of polish bloggers store their polishes in a 'Helmer' - a small drawer unit from Ikea.
I had a little look and the dimensions seem just right for storing polish and they are under £30.

    xx

  12. I think you officially need a Helmer! Do they have an IKEA near you? http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00107874

  18. hi!
    i love all your polishes!
i was wondering if you know any places in montreal that sell China Glaze? i've heard sally beauty and chatters but they don't have those in montreal! i'm so desperate!
    Thanks! :)

  19. @Smita - I know SOME Trade Secrets sell China Glaze as well, and you could always try online, amazon.com has lots of great sellers that I buy from regularly. Also, transdesign is a great nail etailer. Not sure about Montreal, I am near Toronto. ;)

  20. thanks for your reply !
i can't seem to find any amazon sellers who ship to canada! which ones do you use?

    ReplyDelete
  21. @Smita - I use NailEtc on amazon.com. I know it's very very difficult to find nail polish sellers on there that do ship to Canada, I spent days going through everything, so hopefully I can save you some time. Their prices are good, shipping is like $2 a polish or so and they ship fast. Just make sure they don't leave anything out of your order, as that has happened to me before.
