Review: Sigma Dare Eyeshadow Palette

I promised that I would review all 3 Sigma eyeshadow palettes, the other day I reviewed the Bare palette and today it's Dare. This palette is definitely the widest and "out there" least wearable palette out of the three in my opinion. When I first looked at this palette, I thought when would I ever wear these colours? The red ones I would definitely never wear, but if you looking for something different maybe you could love this palette? These palettes retail for $35 each on Sigma's website.

The Dare palette is described as "includes the perfect mix of vibrant and neutral shades represented by warm and cool tones. This palette contains beautiful yet unexpected hues from neutral corals to deep reds and includes surprisingly wearable yellow and gold tones. DARE allows you to create colorful looks that can be easily accentuated with bright or deep colors. Go from day to night in seconds! Includes Sigma Beauty's best-selling E20 and E45 in an exclusive dual-ended brush. Contains matte and satin formulations."

On the left side of the palette we have a nice purple shade (my favourite from the entire palette), a pink frosty colour, beige pinky and off white. These palettes have a mix of matte and shimmery shades, no glitter in any of them, which is nice.

And on the right, the two red colours, a bright yellow and a cream colour. I find the yellow, as expected, to be quite chalky and the cream one disappointing too. The red ones are nice swatched, but I don't think I would ever wear them.
And here they are swatched on my arm, they all give good colour payoff, the first two (purple and pink) are the standout shades I think.

As with all the eyeshadow palettes, you get a double ended brush to apply the shadows. With the Dare palette you get a E34 small tapered blending and an E20 small shader, which are both nice brushes.

Would I recommend this product? Do I dare wear dare? I think these colours definitely not for everyday, if you going for something different and like playing with colour, this could be nice for you. It's not really my taste though.

  3. How do you feel about the actual consistency for the e/s? It looks a little chalky but I could be wrong.

  4. I like bright colours, but I don't know the combo of colours in this one just don't appeal to me.
    Great review!

  5. Interesting selection of colors... not sure how they pair together, even though that yellow is hot!

  6. @Marcelinha - I find the brushes in these palettes to be of equal quality to the full size brushes.

@JC - Some of the lighter shadows in these palettes are a bit chalky fallouty yes, I find the shimmers/satin ones to be the best.
