Review: Lancome Teint Idole Ultra

Lancome's Teint Idole Ultra is one of the newest foundation that I've purchased recently. I've been curious about this one for some time, as it gets very good reviews (Makeupalley rating 3.9/5). I recently redeemed my Shoppers Drug Mart Optimum points and got this as well as Guerlain Lingerie De Peau for free. This foundation retails for $50 CAD. This foundation claims to be "enduringly divine and comfortable makeup, 14 hour retouch-free and oil free, for all skin types." On the back of the box this came in, it also says "ultra-resistant makeup, new ultra-longwearing makeup lasts for 14 hours, color stays flawlessly true with highly resistant pigments, no fading, no need for retouching". The description of this sounds luxurious and wonderful, something perhaps a working woman can wear all day without having to retouch or worry about it fading.

The packaging is a sleek, frosted glass heavy container, you get 30ml in this (standard foundation size) and it also comes with an awesome pump. I have this in the colour "Buff 2 (W)", this was the lightest warm shade in the second intensity. I told the girl at the counter that I didn't want anything pink looking, she suggested this one and it's quite a nice match. It evens out my skins well. I normally wear NC15 in MAC for reference.

I would say this is medium plus coverage, almost full, but not quite. Lancome calls the finish of this "soft matte", I think that's a great description. The finish is matte, but not the dead looking, overly powdery matte, it has a smooth, non-cakey appearance. As you can tell in the swatch above, it has covered my redness well. The foundation is slightly runny but very pigmented and feels very comfortable and light on the skin. If you have very dry skin, I would suggest moisturizing well before you use this, I have dry skin and did notice the usual dry areas coming through underneath this foundation a tiny bit. I think those with oily and combination skin would love this foundation because it does mattify and is oil-free.

I apply this with a flat top brush and just pat it all over, I don't swirl it around at all. It glides onto the skin and does not sink into lines, but does adhere to the skin very well. I do not need to set this with anything because it does already provide that slightly powdery finish and it dries quickly. This foundation is also oil-free which I appreciate and it's listed as non-comedogenic and dermatologist tested. It claims to last 14 hours, personally I don't need a foundation that lasts that long, but when I did wear this all day, I didn't notice it change or shift or wear off at all. Please note, there is no SPF in this product, so you will need to get your SPF in your lotion.

This foundation has a very high-quality feel, sometimes paying the extra money and getting a great product is worth it. I love that this gives awesome coverage without feeling or looking caked on. Lancome's Teint Idole is definitely one of my favourite foundations ever.

Have you tried Lancome's Teint Idole Ultra? What did you think?

  4. Great review Justine. The product looks very lux, love the packaging and it looks awesome just spread on your hand, flawless. I wish I could wear foundation, people look really good and put together when they have great base makeup but alas my acne! I try not to wear any face makeup b/c still combating acne and don't want to make it worse.

  5. @Steph - ya I have ALOT, and I keep buying more. I feel like if I could have one makeup product to wear forever it would definitely be foundation, if your face looks good, you just feel better.

@paige - It doesn't take a lot to cover your whole face I know! :) I love the coverage of this, it's a great foundation.

@Rica - definitely try out samples first, especially to get the right colour match.

@Kalmo - I can understand, when I don't wear anything on my face my skin behaves much better. This is oil-free so it makes me feel better. Thanks for the continued comments! :)

  6. I've had my eye on this for a little while and this review was PERFECT....answered all my questions! IT's fairly safe to say that it's worth a try! (plus I've got a boat-load of optimum points I should redeem)

  7. @Nikosmommy - Optimum points are good for something after all! :) I actually wanted the Makeup forever foundation, but SDM pulled the entire line, makes me so angry. Let me know how it works out for you ;)
