Anyways, from "A Tartan Tale", MAC's new holiday collection all I picked up was the "My Highland Honey" blush. Also next to it in the top picture is a sample size of MAC's Eye Makeup Remover (6ml), with any purchase now on the MAC Canada site you can get this for free, enter the code "MACSAMPLE" until Nov 14, 2010. I was back and forth about this blush, and frankly I am happy to have it, but it's totally not "necessary". It's possibly the most true peach that MAC has ever released, lots of the peach blushes that I have can be slightly darker or have pink or coral undertones, this one is just peach. It's a satin finish, I find it a bit chalky and you have definitely have to pack it to get the right colour payoff. It's very light, and even on me, I am quite fair this takes some work.
Here are some of my peach blushes, but as you can tell Peaches and My Highland Honey look very close right? Style is considerably more orange, Cantaloupe is darker.
Okay, side by side, Peaches and My Highland Honey. I tried to take the most accurate picture here, peaches looks darker and less orange right? You definitely do not need both, but if you are obsessed with peaches like me, what can you do? You gotta feed this obsession! I asked my boyfriend and he says they look the same, clearly they are slightly different.
And next to Utterly Game here, they look a bit different I think. In the swatch you can see that My Highland Honey is more bright, orange/yellow compared to the other two. Up close, Utterly Game has a light sheen to it that the other two do not, plus it's a mineralized finish.
All in all, it's a nice blush to have, but to have Peaches, Utterly Game AND My Highland Honey is not necessary and suspect that applied on the cheeks no one (but you) can tell the difference.
Did you pick up My Highland Honey or other items from the new MAC collection?
I picked My Highland Honey up yesterday, it looks different from Utterly game both in the pan and swatched. Utterly game has a hint of coral pink in it, while highland honey is purely orange <3 peaches is more pink than utterly game when i swatched inside the store :D yay for peach blush lovers!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks such a lovely colour but I'm a bit scared of oranges!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'll try one for a change!!!

i got My Highland Honey as well, and i have Fun $ Games blusher to compare it to from the Hello Kitty collection. They are pretty similar i find Honey to be a slightly warmer peach, and Fun & Games to be cooler and brighter plus it has more shimmer. I dunno if its a must-have, but i really like the name:)
ReplyDeleteI haven't picked up anything, but that blush is pretty. I love peachy blushes.
ReplyDeletePretty colours! I couldn't get HH to show up on my skin at all and I'm pretty fair =/
ReplyDeleteI got this yesterday but haven't tried it yet! Its my first peachy/orange blush, I usually stick to pinks! I'm excited to see what it looks like on! :)
ReplyDelete@whimsysophisticat - I have fun and games too, forgot to add that to my comparison totally! Ya now that I think about it those two are similar too, f&g has shimmer though.
ReplyDeleteI also picked up My Highland Honey and I love it! I'm a sucker when it comes to blushes especially peach ones. You can never have enough! I also picked up the faerie glen lipstick which is my favourite lipstick at the moment, perfect dark/nude.
ReplyDeleteThose are gorgeous colors! I love "Peaches"
ReplyDeleteWe have the same love for peach blushes...I didn't buy anything from the collection yet as I'm trying to restrain myself from buying anymore makeup (plus Toronto IMATS is this weekend). For peach blushes MAC Springsheen is my HG.
ReplyDeleteI did buy MHH, but ended up returning it because it seemed a little too warm for me. I am more into cooler toned blushes these days, for some reason. But it is a pretty color for sure!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this review! I was contemplating this blush when I was at the MAC store and decided not to get it. Between this, Utterly Game and Peaches, which one is your favourite? ♥
ReplyDelete@Princess Livia - honestly they are so close, I would choose Peaches though,it's the smoothest to apply I believe. Fun and Games blush from Hello Kitty is very similar too, I have that one and MHH is lighter lighter than that one.
ReplyDeleteI just got the highland honey, LOVE IT! :)
ReplyDeleteMy Highland Honey was the only one I picked up as well! (the eyeshadow palettes don't come out until the 18th...)
