Review: Sigma Makeup F15/SS131

sigma makeup f15
This is a review for the Sigma F15, the duo-fibre powder/blush brush. This is described on the Sigma Makeup website as a "Medium size tapered duo fibre brush. Widely disperses highly pigmented or mineralized powders. Generates a natural look during blush and highlighter application." This sells for $16 USD on their website. It's also available in the premium professional brush kit, the one that comes with 15 brushes that sells for $149 USD. It was originally named the SS131, which was supposed to be a dupe for the MAC 131. The MAC one however sells for $48 CAD and is limited edition.

I liked the look of the MAC one, but would not buy it for that price and especially because it performs very similar to the MAC 188/187 brush. But when Sigma recently allowed customers to buy individual brushes, I ordered this right away, can't beat that price.

This brush is very soft and delicate on your face, I use it to apply blush, it is great because it means you can't overdo your blush. It is flat, tapered, and duo fibre, which means it can be used to apply anything lightly like highlighters and blush. It fits my cheeks really well too. Is this brush essential? No, but it's nice to have in your collection. Kudos to Sigma for making a dupe of this, it gives the opportunity for many on a budget to afford this awesome brush. I love this brush.

Have you bought this brush yet?

  3. @KayKay - this brush comes with the new premium brush set, there are two sets now... apparently they raised the prices of the sets, I don't know cause I just buy the individual brushes anyway, but it's a good value if you need/want them all. Thanks for the comment.

  6. www. allcosmeticswholesale.com i found sigma brushes for pretty cheap, well i think its cheap. its $19 for the ss131.

i keep hauling stuff from here they also have the original MAC131 if you're desperate for it. And also tons of other goodies. I think I'm going to order the SS131 now actually!

  7. @vonzi - it's funny cause I ordered sigma brushes off allcosmeticswholesale before I got them off the sigma website, and one of mine actually had the new numbering, so it's not necessary true that you will get the original ones from there. And prices are comparable, and for me, being in Canada, shipping is cheaper with Sigma (since they reduced their shipping recently).

    Thanks for the comment! :)
